Hairstyle with padded headband?

Have bought a lovely padded headband for fancy event, but think I need to do some kind of up do, with a bit of hair covering ears somehow?! Any ideas, lovely MNetters?

No to the updo. A padded headband will be enough.

Thanks @CharlotteSt. It would be quite a soft updo, I think (as opposed to a very teased look) - interestingly, hair down with the dress I’m wearing and the headband looks too much, IYSWIM? Feels like I need to get my hair out the way…

Could you do something like this, so it's a softer low up do?
