Should I renew my Beauty Pie Subscription ?

If you have a subscription do you renew every year ?
I took one out last year and in that year I have only ordered 3 times.
I like the products , but I'm not in love with them so deciding if I should or not renew .
Would you miss it if you didn't have it .

I don't have any subscriptions but why would you renew something for products you hardly order and don't love?

KittyCatsby · 22/09/2022 17:02

As I said I like the products as think the products are of a good quality but interested to hear from those that have kept renewing Is it because you are a heavy user of the products , like the quality , think the discount outweighs the subscription cost etc ?

I wouldn't. I've been a member since the beginning and am planning to stop. BP was fantastic value in the early days, but the prices have rocketed. Their RRPs are ridiculous too.

Bluenigellas · 22/09/2022 17:32

I agree with pp’s. When they started, beautypie was amazing value and I ordered loads from there. But since they started offering their annual subscription instead of monthly the prices have increased massively. I actually looked at some of my early order confirmations and some of the products have nearly quadrupled in price. So on that basis I wouldn’t renew as they can just keep upping their prices and you’ve paid £60 up front for a membership which you can’t get back. Their entire idea at the beginning was ‘we save you money as we don’t advertise/use celebrity endorsers/pay for shop fits’ but they do all of those things now so it’s not unique any more! Also, their ‘typical prices’ are total nonsense and plucked out of thin air!

JofraArchersFastestBall · 22/09/2022 17:56

It has gone SO expensive. I liked the original idea, that you were basically paying manufacturing costs and your membership fees went to beauty pie. Like a buyer's cooperative. However, that would have meant that product costs went down as member numbers went up, and it's been the opposite.

The 'members prices' are now ones I'd have to think twice before spending in a shop, let alone on things you can't test and have had to pay a membership fee for the privilege.

I'm in the same predicament OP and think I'll be cancelling once my years subscription comes to an end. Agree with PP that the prices have gone up stupid amounts.

I might just create email accounts to get a subscription free first shop for free so I can top up on my favourite lipstick!

NoSpice · 22/09/2022 18:15

I cancelled mine. A few products were good but the price isn’t great once you add the postage or member fee. I prefer to treat myself to the various boxes people like Cult Beauty do.

The RRP prices are made up and utterly ridiculous. The members prices have shot up too as others have said. They spend a fortune on advertising and their USP feels like a lie. I’ve not missed it.

LarryUnderwood · 22/09/2022 18:20

I didn't renew mine and the only thing I miss is the lip oil. I switched to a simple routine of obagi 10% vit c am plus cerave moisturiser and a sunscreen, then prescription tret and niacinamide (skin and me) plus Simple moisturiser evening. And use a cerave wash. My skin is the best it's ever been. The obagi and tret is expensive but actually works, and the others are just very simple and no fuss products. It's easy and it works.

urgen · 22/09/2022 18:24

I have subscribed twice using the annual subscription. I think their products are nice but the RRP is ridiculous. Often items were out of stock and I learnt to just order every 4 months to save the PP. I like the serums, lipsticks but it’s very Bobbi Brown. £40 RRP for a body scrub was nonsense.

I won’t be re subscribing.

KittyCatsby · 22/09/2022 19:01

Thanks .
I'm erring more on the cancel. I have had an order in my box for about 6 weeks but can easily go without and not feel I've missed out .

Don't know why they switched from monthly to yearly. Anyway as PP said, no its gone up in price so I gave up and just stick to basics anyway from boots apart from my one splurge which is the charlotte tilbury magic cream. I do love the Japan fusion cleanser but I'm not paying for membership just for that.

declutteringmymind · 22/09/2022 20:05

Do a last order, cancel and renew in 6 months time.
