After years of fighting increasing frizz and think that my once poker straight , thick hair Is actually wavy. It is just below shoulder length.
Hence the frizz.
i am In peri meno and the texture has definitely changed. Today I let it air dry and it has formed definite waves.
It will turn to frizz again soon. What can I put on it that will help to define waves but not weigh it down.

Have a look at the JVN air dry cream. I'll find a link.

Boots curl creme. It's only £2 tub as well.

I tend to buy big tubs of cheap gel from super drug for a fiver. Gel doesn't weigh my hair down as much as a cream. But it does have that crunch to it that you need to scrunch/shake out.

Highamite · 18/09/2022 15:18

this is great no crunch

BigButtons · 18/09/2022 17:26

Good ideas thank you🙂
I have looked at the jvn before and wondered whether it was all that different to cheaper brands.
it feels strange trying not to touch my hair. I’m going to have to learn a whole new way of looking after it.
How do you brush it without it becoming a fuzzy mess?

I use boots curl crème and get great results. My son uses olew and gets little ringlets. I can't afford for us both to use olew though so he gets to hog the ringlets

My dd & I are currently using this and we both love it. Not like usual gel products as it doesn't make hair crispy

We also use Frizz Ease hair serum when hair is still wet from washing it

I have wavy hair prone to frizz and only ever brush it when it's wet with conditioner on.

It goes so frizzy if I brush or comb dry.

longtompot · 18/09/2022 17:48

The only time my hair gets brushed is when I am combing conditioner through it, never when it's dry

BigButtons · 18/09/2022 18:11

Ah- so I have learnt something. I won’t brush it when it is dry.
what do you do in the morning when you wake up? So much to learn hear after a lifetime of treating my hair one way.
this all make so much sense. I have tried a gazillion products to try and take my hair, to make is sleek and straight , when what it wanted to do was have some texture.
I like the sound of the umberto Gianini one.🙂
I would like to try the JVN but it is so pricey. The boots curl cream gets a lot of bad reviews oddly🧐

@BigButtons I 'refresh' by spritzing lightly with some water and gently scrunch a little more curl crème through the curls.

Yeahrepublic · 18/09/2022 20:57

Silk pillowcase and hair in a pineapple with a scrunchie or a silk wrap will keep it from looking a complete mess then a quick spray to refresh then scrunch.

longtompot · 18/09/2022 21:14

I tend to twist mine up into a top bun so when I take that down it has a bit of a curl to it. But honestly, I generally see what it's like and that determines what it's going to be like that day, usually up in a ponytail or a bun

BigButtons · 19/09/2022 10:46

Thanks all.
my morning hair is currently looking like Kate Bush has been electrocuted.
I will not brush it.
Of course I have no products yet and the shops are shut today.
Wearing my hair up at night has to be the way to go. Silk pillow cases seem to be pretty pricey?
should I invest in a wide tooth comb?
just use fingers?
🙂

I use a wide toothed comb for coming through conditioner and combing out tangles.
