Bought the Philips Lumea, nervous to use it for the first time!

I bought the Philips Lumea this week and want to use it today but I'm really nervous about it! It just seems quite a scary beauty tool!

I tried to use it on Friday night and did a small section of my leg but it freaked me out a bit, I worry whether the light from it can damage my eyes as I didn't expect it to be so bright? I wanted to use it on my upper-lip, so I'm nervous to use it so close to my eyes.

Does anyone have any advice for using it? Did anyone else feel nervous before they used it for the first time?

Had one for years. Got rid of all my hairy bits, it’s fabulous. Just follow instructions. It pings but doesn’t hurt, you can build up the intensity. Change the head for body part. I’ve used on face, armpits, bikini line and legs. You have to use it weekly to start from what I remember then less over time until not needed. My daughter has used it and now owns it! Best for darker hair and probably not. for excessively hairy people? Just wished it had been available when I was younger, would have saved years of waxing, shaving etc.

I got drunk the first time I used mine as I was scared too! I’m really blasé now. It’s amazing and will change your life! Power through, use wine if you need too Grin

I did it! I did feel weirdly anxious about looking at/near the light as it's so bright! I wore sunglasses but it was still so bright.

I'm pretty sure I missed a lot of areas on my leg as it's kind of hard to tell where you've been. I used setting 5 for everywhere as that's what it suggested on the 'search' function. It wasn't painful at all for most areas, just a little bit of pain in sensitive areas but nothing that made me even flinch

How strict is it about not using it on moles? I have quite a few moles on my arms so didn't use it on my arms as it would be pretty hard to avoid them all. Luckily my legs don't have many moles which is the main reason I got it

I felt the same as you.. after doing the patch test and on second use I sat ‘thinking about it’ nervously for at least 30 mins 😂

Regular user now, happy with level 5 (fine for my skin and pain threshold). I find it very efficient and whilst certain areas (armpits I’m looking at you!) nip a bit more, it’s incredibly bearable

I have had excel HR laser in a medical environment on veins on my legs, and that was a lot more intense but not painful either. In some ways, it’s made the Phillips Lumea feel a doddle and now I whizz through it - you’ll get there. As PP said, it’s bloody great and life changing for me on the legs in particular and the annoying top of thighs close to bikini line buggars I accumulated in later life

I’m doing my third treatment tomorrow and I was really nervous when I started- especially as I bought it to use on my face. It’s been really easy though and is really working.
