If you use the calculator linked what shape do you have? Is it what you thought?
My waist can vary a half inch or so - so am rectangle or hourglass. I would have described myself as straight ish so I guess rectangle is accurate.

And if anyone has any tips on bikinis for a rectangle I'd much appreciate really struggle to get a shape that works.

Mine says I'm an inverted triangle but I'm not. I'm bottom heavy so fuck knows where it got that from.

Wafflefudge · 14/09/2022 07:45

Inverted triangle: inverted triangles have a subtle waist and a proportionally larger upper body. Your bust and shoulders are pretty broad, and the hips are slim.

This is the description of inverted triangle, its all an algorithm on the differences between your measurements, maybe you put one in wrong if you have proportionally bigger hips.

Hour glass but that is from my measurements. I actually look more bottom heavy because my bust is mainly huge norks, I am an F cup so my top half isn't as wide as my measurements would suggest as it all projects forward not sideways lining up with my hips.

CatchersAndDreams · 14/09/2022 07:50

How do I measure my hips? I did the high one just above my hips and the second one on them.

I have a big bum and chunky thighs but my top half of my body is slim.

MinervaTerrathorn · 14/09/2022 07:52

Hourglass, just. Chest and hips the same, but I'm not very curvy. Can wear both men's and women's clothing. Women's t-shirts are typically too wide at the bottom if I buy a 10, while an 8 is too small across the chest so it can be frustrating.

Wafflefudge · 14/09/2022 07:53

@CatchersAndDreams hips is the widest point and for high hips I measured at the top of hip bone. I guess it doesn't take legs in to account at all.

Mine says I'm an hourglass. I think I look just almost straight with a sticky put arse

yasminisa · 14/09/2022 08:03

Plus I have large thighs, so look more pear shaped

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/09/2022 08:19

Mine says I'm a "top hour glass", whatever that means. I would've said inverted triangle - my shoulders aren't broad, but are wider than my hips.

Wafflefudge · 14/09/2022 08:21

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal this is their description
Top hourglass: it is similar to the regular hourglass with a defined waist. Your bust is visibly larger than your hips.

felulageller · 14/09/2022 08:33

Mine says rectangle which is ridiculous. I have a clear hourglass in silhouette.

SarahWoodruff · 14/09/2022 08:39

Rectangle - sounds about right to me. Although I have found Kibbe image IDs a bit more useful in terms of choosing clothes that suit me - I found it complicated to work out initially, though.

Wafflefudge · 14/09/2022 08:41

@felulageller the criteria on it is 9 inch difference between waist and hips, so possibly you are just short of that which is why it's come out as rectangle. The half inch difference in my waist measurement changes me from rectangle/ hourglass.

OP posts:
Wafflefudge · 14/09/2022 08:46

@SarahWoodruff had a quick look, seems interesting but think I'd need someone else to answer for me. Tricky to answer yourself, not sure we see ourselves accurately.

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 14/09/2022 08:56

Hourglass / rectangle depending on how recently I've eaten! Doesn't take sjoulders into acckunt though, I actually look like an inverted triangle (or a wrestler!)

hewouldwouldnthe · 14/09/2022 09:02

It rubbish. I'm not an hourglass with a 33 " chest. I'm pear shaped

CrunchyCarrot · 14/09/2022 09:10

Rectangle - no surprise to me as that's what I look like in the mirror!

FiveShelties · 14/09/2022 09:13

CatchersAndDreams · 14/09/2022 07:39

Mine says I'm an inverted triangle but I'm not. I'm bottom heavy so fuck knows where it got that from.

I am bottom heavy too and got the same result as you.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/09/2022 09:35

Thanks, @Wafflefudge, I missed the explanation. Still don't think it's right though, there's a slight curve at my waist but not enough to count as an hourglass - I used to be one, but post-kids my waist has definitely thickened, even though I'm a healthy weight.

I've never been able to figure (no pun intended) out my Kibbe type, my answers are all over the place. Suspect yourself right and it's not possible to judge yourself accurately enough!

Arunica80 · 21/01/2026 17:57

My measurements tell me hourglass but i look.more pear shaped

99victoria · 21/01/2026 23:14

Hourglass which is correct
I've always been a very definite hourglass even when I gain a bit of weight. I actually think you can carry a bit if extra weight if you're an hourglass
