Can this dress pass for 1920's style?

It's this long beaded Zara one (but not that actual one - I already have it

Got a 1920's theme event coming up and I don't have the legs for a "flapper" dress and also don't fancy having my arms out in a strappy dress

If I have a long string on black beads down the back and a band round a bobbed style do - flat black shoes - do you think I can swing it?

Or do I need to look again?? (And stick this one back on eBay)

Yes, it's fine.
Wear a headband with it.

Oh yes definitely this would work, especially with your accessories. I couldn’t wear a sleeveless dress either!

It's perfect!

Yes as long as you jazz up with accessories. Think pearls and a pearl necklace tied in the flapper way - headband for sure.

Yes, it's gorgeous and plausibly 1920s with the accessories you're planning.

Twawmyarse · 12/09/2022 17:07

Yes, it's fine - stick a plumed feather in your headband if you can!

Phew! Thanks everyone

DH was making me wobble - but he has no idea really

That's absolutely perfect. Only bright young flappers with no chest wore teeny little dresses (and sleeveless mostly in summer). Older bodies dressed much more conservatively and the hallmark of actual 1920s fashion was the highly decorated fabric cut in body skimming panels.

Looks perfect to me.
