Several years ago I did a ton of research to find the most recommended face creams then tried each using it on only half my face for a month. I really suggest doing this when you pick one!

The ones I found that made a difference to me were creme de la mer, elemis marine cream and a l'ocitaine one. I'd say the l'ocitaine was best at anti aging but it also gave me spots. I also tried lots of eye creams and serums, the only one that made a difference was an elenis one (serum in grey bottle with dropper).

However I forgot my skin care when we went on hols so ended up using MILs No7 (the pink one for 50 somethings) and it made an incredible difference in one week. I now just use that, occasionally try an expensive one but return to no 7. I'm mid 40s now with very little by way of lines and wrinkles.

I think it's very personal, see about buying samples or travel sizes on ebay. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your advice, it is much appreciated. I'll look into the no7 one. Good idea about buying samples too!

Vitamin A (tretinoin) is the only product afaik that is scientifically recognised as reducing the effects of ageing on skin. You can get it OTC in many European countries or in UK via companies like skin & me and dermatica. You have to wear sunscreen daily is using vitamin A (or any retinol product) but realistically you should be doing that anyway to protect skin from ageing affects of UV.
