Tops like this - what type of bra?

Hi I really like this type of high neck vest top, with a racer back.

I know about racer back bras or converters, so the back is fine. But what about when the top is slightly cut away in the front too?

Any advice gratefully received!

I either wear a strapless bra underneath or a good, supportive sports bra as they're racer back and you can't see them underneath.

It looks like a no bra top to me. Although I do have some sports bras that might work under it.

Flyinggeesei234 · 28/08/2022 18:05

Thanks! Yes I’ve tried my sports bras and they’re fine at the back, it’s the front that’s the problem. I don’t like strapless bras as I always get a weird shape with them.

No bra is sadly not an option.

I wear a contrasting bra underneath, if it's a bright colour.

Flyinggeesei234 · 28/08/2022 18:13

@JustFrustrated do you mean so it shows at the front?

None.

Yep.

How about a triangle bra, like a bikini top where you could move the cup area?

Flyinggeesei234 · 28/08/2022 19:08

Thanks @JustFrustrated I think you’re on to something. I’m happy with the idea of intentionally on show with a contrasting colour for straps, but not cups. A triangle could work, with perhaps a little adjustment.

I don’t want to give up on these tops as in every other way I find them a flattering style.

I’ve seen others wearing without a bra. Yes it can look great. Not on me it wouldn’t, very unfortunately. I hate the things, but needs must.

Might a halter neck work?

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 28/08/2022 19:23

How about a multiway one that you can hook the straps on little loops that are all along the cup? Hopefully able to get one that's cut on the cup to not show in the armhole?

M&S

Thanks @GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut but it’s the cut out shape needed for tops like this. I’ve marked the area that would need to be cut away.

I will try a triangle bra, with a bit of an alteration if needed. What a faff!

@CharlotteSt its the cup not the strap that’s the issue. It’s a right pain.
