Tretinoin: When will I see results

Ws2210 · 26/08/2022 20:14

Started tretinoin for ageing in February. Worked my way up slowly to 0.05 almost nighly. Has mostly cleared acne (I didn't have much to begin with) but I am seeing no ageing results. If you are a long time tret user when did you see ageing results? What results did you see? S ot worth continuing? I'm 33 btw.

Thanks in advance

It takes at least 6 to 9 months. Most people give up but if you can tolerate it it’s worth sticking with.

Ws2210 · 26/08/2022 22:13

That's reassuring, I am going to stick with it. What were your results?

You may never see any results.

But what you ARE doing, is slowing the decay Grin

At 33 do you have much visible aging?

Sadly yes! I have crows feet, forehead lines, and smile lines. And definitely feel like my face is less full/saggier than when I was in my 20s

I'm sorry but you need to be realistic about what tretinoin can do, otherwise you are just going to be disappointed.

It's not a miracle cream - It won't fix significant saggyness in the face, that's not to do with your skin but rather the underlying tissue/fascia of your face, as we get older we tend to lose volume in our cheeks. If you're worried about fullness/ saggyness in your face, the only thing to fix that is filler or surgery. No cream is going to replicate that, not even tretinoin.

I've been using it for 3 to 4 years, and I like the results, my skin is clearer, brighter, fresher looking, but it hasn't made my face fuller. In fact, I have an 'elevenses' line between my eyebrows that hasn't gone away in all that time.

Look at Hot and Flashy she has a good timeline of improvements using it over the years. As a long term user my skin is brighter and clearer.

What I've found with it, is not that I suddenly look 30 (I'm 56) I don't, and won't. Ever.
But I suddenly looked at my face in the mirror and thought blimey, that looks pretty damn good for someone not far off 60. Clear glowing skin, compact and no visible pores etc.

Ws2210 · 27/08/2022 15:22

I should be clear, I'm not expecting it to add fullness to my face. Was just responding to the pp who said I can't have signs of ageing in my 30s. I wondered if it would do anything for fine lines?

I've seen hotandflashy and Melissa55 (??) YouTube channel, they both look amazing! How long had pp been using it before you noticed results? I'm starting to get frustrated.
