How to wear wide leg trousers!

I was a teen in the noughties, kind of before skinny jeans were everything and LOVED the kick flare jeans trend as it suited my body shape as I got curvier. I havr rushed out to buy myself a new pair of kick flares and am basically dressing like the woman teenage me wanted to be and LOVING it.

Inspired by this, being stuck in skinnies that don’t really suit my shape for a decade, I have decided to also embrace the wide leg trouser trend. Have bought myself a classic black pair, high waisted, fitted round the bum and loose the rest of the way.

However, I’m struggling on how to style. I want to wear to the office, size 8-10 with huuuge boobs and a small waist, therefore the current oversized everything trend does NOTHING for my shape- something to tuck in would be great. Work in an investment bank but smart/casual dress code, not client facing.

What shoes? I only see them styled with round toed white trainers but don’t love these for the office. If I want to wear with heels, what style?! Not loving the super chunky footwear trend.

What tops are in? Again a tank is not office or figure friendly, I have a silk button up that looke pretty classic but anything more exciting?

Then over the top (my office is freeeezing), some kind of cardigan/blazer?!

Am just turning 30 so want to feel like myself without abandoning all trends- I love florals, femine shapes, but must be flattering over the bust, not flaunting.

help!!!

I’d go for a cropped cardigan over the top that hits at your waist.

You basically need something tighter fitting on top - whether that’s just a plain tshirt, or a body/tank with a fitted cardigan over the top. Cropped is a bit more modern too.

I wear my high waist wide leg trousers with a heavy weight white or black plain tee shirt tucked in and a chunky gold necklace and think it looks good! Ive also worn them with a light cotton shirt, also tucked in and sort of pulled out a little so it looks ‘relaxed’ but you need to keep your definition at the waist or it all looks too baggy and messy looking.

Would something like this work tucked in. I spotted this on Vinted

Okay, fitted Ts, cropped cardigans, can definitely do this with existing wardrobe!

Button up shirts are they in or not? It seems the natural fit but I want to look current, not like an overgrown early naughties teen (I was verrrrry into A&F/ Jack Wills style preppy look!) or feel like I’m wearing my teenage waitress uniform!

I love that @NorthFaceofthelaundrypile I actually have lots of tops in a similar style in various prints so good to know these can work.

Any suggestions for shoes? Have a fair amount of nice boots of various styles but less so in heels and don’t think ballet flats are “in” like they were in 2006! Would love to buy a quality pair that go with lots of stuff (i.e. also my beloved kick flare jeans!)

I’m hoping to find some chunky brogues - I’m a real lover of wide trousers and I’ve just managed to squeeze into them all again!
I’m looking out for some chunky brogues to channel my inner Diane Keaton!

I'm the same shape and would wear a vest top/shell top or polo neck in the same colour as the trousers with an oversized shirt or blazer in a contrasting colour/pattern.

Shoes - a chunky loafer or block-heel pump or boot.
