Can you look better without beauty maintenance?

I’m in my 50’s and still have very oily skin. I’ve been cleansing and moisturising religiously for the last few years as I could see a downward pattern that made me look old. Anyway,…., due to lots of other things going on in my life, I have totally neglected any sort of beauty regime, and guess what, I look better than I have in the last few years. What do you think? Fluke?

Bump. Hoping for comments from other greasy people 😉

well there is a certain beauty to being natural and comfortable in one's own skin. to me nothing looks worse than hair that's over processed, weird skin textures or color, and frankly bazaar eyebrows and lips.
so yes lower maintenance can look better.
on the greasy hair topic i believe greasy hair can be improved with less washing but as you age you produce less oils which also helps.

I’ve got greasy skin but it needs constant surveillance to ensure it doesn’t break out. I went away and tried downsizing my regime and just ended up with spots.

Sounds like you over processed you skincare previously.

Now you have a great baseline from which to experiment with more active ingredients
