Suggestions for where to find an outfit

I need an outfit for a special event in November. It will be indoors, daytime, quite formal and involves royalty!

I live in a rural area so access to shops which would fit the bill are limited. I've just been looking at dresses on Hobbs website and have seen a couple of outfits I like which I think would fit the bill but was hoping someone could point me in the direction of other similar brands that I can peruse.

Don't want anything too short or low cut. I'm 58, a size 12 top and 12 (sometimes 14) bottom and shift dresses not really my style due to my menopausal tummy.

Budget - well I'm not loaded but happy to pay Hobbs type prices as it's a special occasion!

Any pointers much appreciated as I'm rubbish at this sort of thing (I'm ususlly dressed in jeans and tshirts!)
Thanks

If it's Princess Anne, she'd prefer the jeans and t-shirt 😁

My go-to shop is Monsoon. They have occasion dresses.

What's your budget op

What's your style

limitededitionbarbie · 22/08/2022 20:38

Are you going to get your hair done and nails etc?

waltzingparrot · 22/08/2022 20:48

John Lewis for the variety of labels.

Has your nearest town got an independent boutique that might be worth a look?

Thinking laterally, how about searching for ‘mother of the bride/groom’ outfits, this may give you a range of brands/shops that have suitable outfits that wouldn’t otherwise come to mind.
Also, if you go down this route, there’s loads on eBay, presumably worn just the once!

@CharlotteSt Don't think we'll know which Royal until the day. But could be Anne, Wills or Charles.
Monsoon is a good call - thanks

@waltzingparrot. Might have a trip out to a big John Lewis with some friends to have a look (DH not much use for these things!)
Nearest large town doesn't have any independents that fit this bill (that I can think of) but some of the smaller towns in the next (posher) county might.

Have been googling Mother of the Bride outfits. Very mixed bag with lots of the results not being things I'll be wearing if I ever get to be a MOB!

Budget - I was thinking around £150 for a dress as I'll need a jacket (unless long sleeve dress as I'll need a coat as it's winter) hat/fascinator and shoes to go with it.

Have a look at LK Bennett - they usually have lots of options for sleeves. Although a bit more expensive.

something like this could be dressed up for the occasion but could easily be worn again: www.lkbennett.com/product/DRMARIAVISCOSEMIXGreenForest%20Green~Maria-Cabernet-Red-Fit-and-Flare-Ecovero™-Dress-Forest%20Green

Will definitely get nails done but the event isn't close to home so we'll be going down the day before. I think the price of a blow dry in the area we'll be in would give DH a coronary compared to what I'd pay here! So not sure what to do about hair as I'd have to find a stylist near the venue.

Phase eight seem to have some nice stuff which might suit.

limitededitionbarbie · 24/08/2022 20:29

Did you find anything. Yet op

@limitedlimitededitionbarbie
Not yet. We're away at the moment so will have another hunt when we get back at the weekend. A few possibilities I spotted on the Hobbs site the other day so I think I know roughly what I'm looking for.
I've got a couple of months to sort it so hoping to fit in a city shopping trip with a couple of friends one of whom is very honest in her opinion
