"Clean", unusual perfume?

Looking for recommendations for quirky, clean-smelling perfumes; not floral, not musky or oriental. Eau de parfum preferred because EDT disappears after an hour on my skin.

I like forest lungs by nue.

Comedycook · 21/08/2022 23:05

Green tea by Elizabeth Arden

AllLopsided · 21/08/2022 23:19

Clarines Eau Dynamisante is an old favourite, smells slightly masculine to me. Also Ô de Lancôme, another older one.

Jo Loves Pomelo is clean but quite strong. My favourite really light summer perfume is Hermès Un Jardin sur le Nil. It's green and fresh without being overly citrusy.

I love Dyptique Philosykos but I wouldn't call it light - I think it's figgy and to me figgy perfumes are slightly earthy and autumnal. I do love them though! If it's your thing I also like the Jo Malone Wild Fig and Cassis (might be discontinued or Archive Collection now) - the cassis gives it a nice bitter edge - and I have a really cheap one, Nectar de Figue eau fraîche from Adopt perfumes in France.

I am worried my perfume collection is going to outlive me Blush

The Acqua Di Parma Mediterranean (blue) range is very clean. Not flowery or heavy. Just clean snd fresh. I like Chinotto di Liguria. Also Colonia Essenza (black) is wonderful.

Library of Fragrance would have tons - cucumber and cut grass are both lovely.

Not expensive either

I second Library of Fragrance. I have cut grass and also Thunderstorm, which smells like a garden after rain. There’s some floral in there but more damp earth. Possibly an acquired taste but I love it.

Ballsaque · 21/08/2022 23:59

Wylde Moon Holly Willoughby. Really fresh and like nothing else.

There's actually a perfume brand called Clean. My favourite of theirs is Fresh Laundry. But they have a "fragrance quiz" on their website to find your perfect scent.

I love clean!
Reserve skin is my fave but I have a few

LadyOfTheCanyon · 22/08/2022 06:36

Un jardin sur le Nil by Hermes? Clean, herby, citrusy.

TizerorFizz · 22/08/2022 08:33

I dislike cucumber snd hay as a perfume. Yes, the Hermes range is very good as recommended above.

scrivette · 22/08/2022 08:44

Molten Brown Coastal Cypress and Sea Fennel is very clean and fresh. The shower gel and body lotion are lovely too.

Marghe87 · 22/08/2022 08:51

Not sure it's unusual but "Blanche" by Byredo smells of clean laundry and is fairly long lasting. Worth a sniff :)

peridito · 22/08/2022 14:24

But we need to know more about what the OP means by "clean" .

fresh spicy
animalic
patchouli
aromatic
musky
warm spicy

I think cut grass, new paper, laundry that's dried in the sunshine, lemons, cucumber, and thyme all smell "clean".

Le Labo Baie 19 is nice, it's meant to smell like rain. It's not cheap, but lasts for ages. The notes are juniper, green leaves and patchouli - but in a very 'clean' way

Mumsarockchick · 24/08/2022 14:06

I second Inis, it's tag line is 'energy of the sea'. Smells of sea breeze, slightly citrus

SavoySteam · 24/08/2022 15:40

CK Women EDP - washing powder, fresh washing
Arden White Tea - like a woman who has just had spa treatment and is wearing white linen clothes.
Loewe 001 EDT - tangy, musky cleanness

SavoySteam · 24/08/2022 15:43

oh and Hilfiger The girl - fig leaf and the sea, but for me the fig leaf smells more like freshly sliced cucumber

PlinkPlonkFizz · 25/08/2022 08:00

Thank you for all the recommendations 😊

Does anyone know a good way to get small versions / sample sizes of these perfumes online? SO MANY I'd like to try, but I live in a place without many shops, and I'm hesitant to buy a full size bottle of something online without trying it first...

TPL · 25/08/2022 14:09

I get loads of freebie perfume samples from HotUkDeals and also from Facebook. You have to get the right algorithm if you get what I mean. I think I did it by following lots of perfume brands and now I get free sample offers nearly everyday. I can't guarantee it will work but Facebook does do targeted adverts so worth a shot.

Owlcat42 · 25/08/2022 16:29

For niche brands bloomperfume.co.uk do samples of individual fragrances, and also sample sets on particular themes. www.lessenteurs.com do samples too. They aren't free, you'll pay a few pounds, but it's a good way of trying things out

monsterastuckiosa · 25/08/2022 17:08

Ah, thanks @TPL and @Owlcat42 - I'll check those out! Fingers crossed they ship here... (or maybe not - this could be an expensive new hobby! 😂)

tobee · 26/08/2022 00:44

I get samples from eBay sometimes but I need to check the seller out and they're not free. I got a few in lockdown when free samples weren't available/shops weren't open but needed cheering up.

RoundandRound123 · 26/08/2022 00:56

@PlinkPlonkFizz the cleanest, prettiest classic has to be 4711 Eau de Cologne
