That’s a lot!

I generally bring one outfit a day, plus accessories to upgrade it for the evening.

Thats not including cardigans/jackets of which I’d only need one.

If I need to pack really light then I’d plan to visit a laundrette halfway through and pack half the amount.

Parker231 · 20/08/2022 10:24

We’re in the South of France for the whole of August. I’ve lived in bikinis during the day with shorts and T-shirt if we’re going out. Worn sundresses in the evening with flip flops. You need very little.

MinglingFlamingo · 20/08/2022 10:47

Going away for 17 nights

Will be beachy in parts but also sightseeing + pool. Camping so need things in case it's possibly chilly. Weather warm but could change and possibly rain

20x pants - can hand wash if needed
5- T-shirts
5- vest tops
3- bikinis
2- beach cover ups
3 bras
6- sun dresses including one I can dress up for evening
3 shorts
2 pairs of 3/4 lengths
1 pair trainers
1 pair nice sandals
1x walking sandals
Flip flops
5 pairs of socks
Comfy stuff to wear in the evening
2 pairs of pjs

Bearsan · 20/08/2022 11:15

At least 6 bikinis for a week beach holiday as I hate to wear the bottoms twice and also won't go for lunch etc in damp bikini bottoms as it's so uncomfortable.
Up to 5 dresses for things like day trips and going out in the evenings.
Shorts, t shirts, sarong and a couple of t-shirt dresses for day time.
Footwear.

3WildOnes · 20/08/2022 11:19

For a two week holiday maybe
3 pairs of shorts
3 skirts
6 t shirts
5 dresses

I wear things more than once!

BreakfastOfWaffles · 20/08/2022 11:24

For me, it depends on the type of holiday, our mode of transport and whether or not we have access to a washing machine. I take more if we're driving to a holiday with mucky activities and no washing machine than if flying to a beach holiday with washing facilities. Totally agree with the PP about cabin baggage only if flying - it's worth packing less to avoid baggage hassle.

I have just got home from holiday with dh and ds. I take the same as Op, a day outfit for every day and a dress for every night. Ds and dh also like different changes each day /evening too.

Sickoffamilydrama · 20/08/2022 11:44

I'm currently on holiday for 2 weeks have young teens and a primary age child so far we've spent most of the time at the pool.

If it was just adults we'd be out and about more.

After so many issues with luggage going missing lately we decided on hand luggage only. It actually means you are out of the airport quicker as well.

I have with me:
1 Beach dress
5 dresses some with short sleeves to protect burnt shoulders
5 tops
2 shorts
1 skirt

I will buy a sarong here and maybe a beach dress with shoulders, forgot how useful they are.

Definitely buy decent suncream I bought Nivea Dry touch and it's not waterproof enough for the in and out of the pool the kids do.

Sickoffamilydrama · 20/08/2022 11:46

Oh and I'm taking pictures for the what you are wearing thread just to see what I do wear for next time.

Gone are the days DSis and I used to take hours to get ready and have 50 outfits!

HeartofTeFiti · 20/08/2022 11:53

Me on a 14 night holiday someplace sunny:

4 pairs knickers
2 bras
5 pairs shorts
2 pairs smart cotton trousers for evenings (as i don’t wear skirts or dresses)
2 swimsuits
a sarong
4 daytime sun vests/t shirts
5 blouses and tops
1 pair summer pjs
1 pair flip flops
1 pair sandals
1 sunhat

travel in shorts, T shirt, light jacket, summer trainers

i hand wash everything as needed

Earlymenopausesucks · 20/08/2022 11:54

Depends on the type of holiday.
City break with DH 2 per day.
Family Pool holiday 1 per night plus 5 day looks for trips, swimwear, cover ups etc.
Girls weekend 2 per day plus spa wear.
Cottage break uk 1 per day plus 2 evening as usually eat out straight from day or back into pyjamas!

MercuryOnTheRise · 20/08/2022 11:54

Couple of swimsuits/sarongs/cover ups
White linen culottes
Navy linen trousers
Half a dozen tops
3/4 summery dresses
Deck shoes/birkies/trainers
Sun hat

The point of being on holiday is not dressing up.

MinervaTerrathorn · 20/08/2022 11:57

Couple of pairs of shorts, pair of jeans, t-shirt per day, wear evening t-shirt the next day or else for a few evenings, jumper. If cooler then two pairs if jeans, no shorts, two jumpers.

Quizzed · 20/08/2022 12:16

For 7 days I would normally take:
3/4 pairs of shorts
7 vest tops/t shirts
3/4 bikinis
4 dresses for the evening
2 pairs of flip flops
1 pair of sandals
10 pairs of knickers
2x bras

My luggage is normally way under.

How big is your suitcase?!

You know you can wear "outfits" more then once right? And if you take tops and bottoms you can Mia them up a bit.

For a two week summer beach holiday I would take 3/4 pairs of shorts, 7/8 t shirts/tops to wear with them, and maybe 2/3 evening combos.

Yes I know, I would probably reuse shorts/trousers to make a new outfit, however still count it as another outfit as I would need another top!

standard suitcase 20+ kg

OP posts:
Caspianberg · 20/08/2022 14:27

Less is more here.

I know we get 23kg each. But like hell could I carry or pull 23kg for me, plus 23kg for Ds, plus car seat, plus pram, plus toddler, plus hand luggage x2..

I will travel with Ds alone next month. 2 weeks. One cabin size wheely case, one rucksack. Small Pram. If it doesn’t fit, and I can’t carry it all alone up stairs and on a train either end, it simply can’t go.

I usually go on approx 4 changes each. Allow washing. Extra underwear.

lljkk · 20/08/2022 14:49

Since I'm not into Style & Beauty,
and I don't like going to restaurants or "out" to places where people dress up:

one outfit to sleep in (1 outfit = a lot of items actually, I feel the cold at night)
3-4 day time outfits
sport clothes (this can be a lot, depends how much is reuseable, or whether items are same as day time outfits)
spare pants & socks
Loads of (sport, fugly sandals) practical shoes, I am fussed about footwear
1 spare bra
1-2 jumpers & leggings in case it's cooler than expected
gloves, hat(s) (for sun or cold, seriously feel both badly)

I end up hitting 23kg by bringing stuff like rollerskates, pedals & cycle shorts.

VeganPesto · 20/08/2022 17:27

If somewhere hot for a week I’d go with
2-3 swimming costumes/bikinis
and 10 ‘day outfits’ although that doesn’t mean 10 pairs of shorts and 10 tops, just 10 combinations to choose from. Then probably 5 evening dresses. 1 pair of trainers and 1 pair of sandals.

for some reason about 14 pairs of underwear just in case I suddenly develop severe incontinence. I have no idea why I always pack too many pairs of underwear but I can’t not! 😂

oviraptor21 · 20/08/2022 17:27

One week will be 2-3 evening dresses.
2 bikinis
7 tops + 3 shirts
3 running tops/shorts
1 dress + jacket/hoodie for travelling in

oviraptor21 · 20/08/2022 17:29

3 shorts not shirts

Watapalava · 20/08/2022 17:39

For one week I take:

5 vests
5 shorts
3 cover up/beach shirts
5 bikini
beach towel
underear
hat
7 evening dresses or similar but defo one for every night. I’d rewear one to travel home

this fits in one half of a 20k case as I share with dh

are some of you only travelling with handbags?

even with 10k I’ve taken 4 day and 4 night outfits for a weekend plus towels, 2-3 shoes and swimwear!

why take so little is you have luggage?

I’m amazed at one dress for a week

Watapalava · 20/08/2022 17:41

Oh and for a week I’d take 4 shoes minimum inc a range or sandals and flip flops and heels

MinervaTerrathorn · 20/08/2022 18:32

I don't own a handbag. I would take a medium case to share with DS or we would both take backpacks depending on if we would need to carry luggage any distance.

ouch321 · 20/08/2022 18:44

1 outfit per day plus swimwear if there was a hotel pool.

I won't re-wear dirty clothes so it's one outfit for each day of the holiday plus one for emergency eg cancelled flight and need to stay one night longer. Don't bother with evening wear, I've never been on a holiday that required you to have formal wear.

I fit my handbag in my hand luggage or if you are allowed 2 items carry it on.

I started doing hand luggage only for holidays about 10 years ago after deciding not to pay the extra for luggage in the hold.

I make sure everything mixes and matches and honestly I never feel like I have to little.

Only thing that I may run out of is hair products there's 3 of us with curly hair we normally go through tons of conditioner.
