Anyone got their eye on anything?

I got the Cos big fluffy one in navy two years ago and still love it but a bit bored so looking at possibly blowing out on a new one.

Eyeing the Elder coat from All Saints..

Too many shops not getting the August memo for starting to look at winter coats Angry

My friends got me an essentiel Antwerp gift voucher as my dad died - all clubbed together - so am getting this I think:

OMG I love that. I had a bright red Tommy Hilfiger duffle coat about ten years ago and I loved it so much. Other than that I've only had black and navy winter coats - but the red one was my favourite hands down. You'll never regret a bright coat - especially as it has such a beautiful origin story Flowers

I was googling something like 'winter coat trends 2022' and one a bit like that in a lighter bubblegum pink came up from Mango and it was bloody out of stock. Think quite a few shops are just wheeling out their leftover stock from last year Biscuit

I got my bright coat the year Cheryl Cole had a bright pink duffle, think hers was Burberry and she wore it with leather leggings and I was in love.

I need a new coat as I am going to New York in January. I am not sure if I want bum covering or longer. It needs to be waterproof and warm. I don’t want to look like i have picked up a plain back 3 in 1 jacket from Go Outdoors or Tresspass.

Patiently waiting for the shops to change stock.

PollyIndia · 19/08/2022 08:39

runningfromreality - definitely still mostly summer stuff I think.
In a few weeks, will be all autumn/winter.
swift twist - you will defo need something warm for nyc in jan. What about a long puffer? I've got the arket one which is really warm, and water resistant at least. Lots of New Yorkers wear puffers in the dead of winter.

ChilliPB · 19/08/2022 08:54

I’ve seen a few coats in the sales recently - John Lewis, Net a Porter, Flannels, Outnet etc - worth a look before they bring out next winter’s stock! Lots of puffers and parkas and so on at really good prices. Reckon it’ll be a few more weeks before the A/W stuff comes out.

ChilliPB · 19/08/2022 08:54

Sorry should have tagged @swifttwist in that.

ChilliPB · 19/08/2022 09:00

I’m thinking of getting this one in the same from American Vintage.

runningfromreality · 19/08/2022 09:22

Oh that pink one is lush. Maybe I should look at colour. My current one is navy and I really got bored of it and felt gloomy and that it washed me out by the end of last winter.

I spent a lot of time lusting after puffers last year too, specifically the Cos thick one and the Sweaty Betty one - but a fellow school mum has that one so I feel I can't get it!

I love a bit of colour in the winter as it cheers me up a bit. If you’re not into really bright colours I think dark greens, maroon/dark reds etc all look really nice. Bet there will be loads more puffers this year but there’s usually a couple that a really good and sell out quickly!

My Christmas present to myself is going to be the Max Mara 10180 in aquamarine.

I should bloody hope so. If they actually waited until we needed them to put them in the shops, those of us who buy winter coats in Autumn/winter and not the middle of summer might have half a chance of finding more than the dregs in the sale rack.

runningfromreality · 19/08/2022 13:57

I read ages ago in some fashion rag that one should always buy one's winter coat in August before they sell out. Guessing you didn't read that Wink

That MaxMara coat is something else!

You'll never buy another coat like it I'm guessing!

Already bought the most fantastic poncho that I won't post or it'll be outing. Dying for the weather to change so I can wear it.

Not spotted the proper winter one but I'm up to almost sixty coats now so whatever I get will need to arrive into the house under cover of darkness.

Already bought my boots Blush

Skinterior · 19/08/2022 14:06

Oops, also an All Saints leather jacket just arrived.

They're all very practical.

newrubylane · 19/08/2022 14:18

Recently bought this to take me into autumn.

www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/quilted-jacquard-kimono?category=sale-coats-jackets&color=009&type=REGULAR&quantity=1

I bought two new coats last year and two the year before so I probably don't need a new one, but I am in the market for a couple of practical winter jackets. And have been contemplating this one

www.fenwick.co.uk/women/clothing/coats-and-jackets/military/navy-wax-cotton-utility-jacket/5055653231597.html?istCompanyId=9fe3a412-39b5-4cc6-9996-5fd534c994bd&istFeedId=b07c6214-9875-4b4e-b92d-de995c42d618&istItemId=pqmttptra&istBid=t&gclid=CjwKCAjw6fyXBhBgEiwAhhiZsqvEdX1B1sbx5cbeDee5lXzwauyE4D_aeAfdyOYNdmEIxjW8GzipeRoC3sYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Desperate to see some more autumn/winter stuff in the shops now. I need long sleeve tees and considering some barrel leg jeans.

Beachlovingirl · 19/08/2022 20:47

I have been looking today at winter coats! Mine is more of a school run thing as my daughter has just started primary school and it’s a no drive zone so walking is what I’ll be doing twice a day.
I have already a gorgeous cashmere navy double breasted coat from anthro but need something more waterproof. I’ve seen some nice ones at seasalt so I’m lusting after that (and some ankle length hunter wellies because - Scotland)

I really like the quilted and bright coloured coats posted though! Maybe a third coat is needed 😁

I have that style in black and camel in what they call Max Mara Weekend- which is the cheaper range and they are just fabulous. No matter what I'm wearing or state of hair or skin - put them on and instant transformation to be elegant and well- dressed.

completelyunderwhelmed · 20/08/2022 16:20

I want a mid-calf length so I can wear with midi dresses and would love a nice green colour. Deep forest or more vibrant. All the green coats I can see are sludgy/dull.

The cost of living increases have clearly affected a lot of people 🙄

Issywizzybelle · 29/08/2022 06:25

I want the long puffer jacket Emma willis wore for Next for past two years but not on website yet. Anyone seen similar one?

Even if I can’t afford/justify a cashmere dream coat right now, it’s enjoyable (for me, and I presume others too) to fantasise about beautiful clothes as an escape and diversion from a media feed that is otherwise full of terrifying cost of living forecasts.

The Style and Beauty board is for - just that! S&B should be a happy place, please keep it that way. Smile Plenty of space for Cost of Living rants on the dedicated CoL board.
