Searching for the ultimate black dress

Help me find the perfect black dress. Like everyone I'm looking for "the one". A dress that can be worn day or evening. Dress up or down. With sleeves short or long. Not a shirt dress.

I'm 5'3" a 12-14 and happy to spend a bit but not net-a-porter/Matches money. Equally happy with something that isn't spendy. Just tried a few from M&S that aren't bad but would love something a bit more 💥 and a little less meh.

I'm going to suggest this one. It says indigo not black but I thought it would as black so I thought I'd suggest it. Also reduced from £110 to £33

Thank you. Really nice shape (bonus points for the v neck) and material looks good but worried the sleeves are a bit short.

I keep looking at the Saint + Sofia runway maxi but worry it's too clingy. Also drawn to a Cos dress in a kind of thick jersey material in the hope it might hold in a bit of mum tum but not 100% convinced the shape of that would be great for me.
