Please recommend a good travel coffee mug

I know this is not a S&B topic so apologies for that but wasn't quite sure where to post it.
I am trying to reduce the amount of money I spend on take away coffees (A LOT!) and would like to purchase a nice travel coffee mug that:

  • is leak proof/will likely carry it in my bag on the way to the station whilst full of coffee
  • keeps temperature warm
  • not too big (I don't need 500ml of coffee)
  • cute to look at
  • made with good material (ie non toxic etc)
Do you have any brands to recommend? Price-wise I don't mind as ideally I will be using it for a long time. I guess I'd like to stay within £20 max.

Thanks!

I’ve not found a fully leakproof cup but use a small Chillys bottle which keeps drinks hot and is definitely leakproof. Mine is old but similar to this.

I use a Contigo which is everything you describe. Had it for several years now and as good as new. Lots of sizes/colours available.

I'm not sure what you mean by "cute to look at" (?!) but I really like the Hydro Flask Coffee (smaller size 12oz = 375ml). I've used mine for a few years and it looks as good as new and happily rolls around in my bag without leaking. My coffee is always piping hot (unlike some of the competitors). Slightly over your budget but you can usually find a deal if you're willing to hunt around online.

The camelbak forge comes in 2 sizes. Doesn't leak and keeps things hot for ages.

Not cute but multiple colours available

I also have a Contigo. It fits in most car cup holders and screws up very tight so never leaks if it's in a bag. I use mine daily and it will keep the drink very hot for a couple of hours. These are often discounted in Tesco's I paid £12.50 for mine.

My husband has just got a yeti travel mug. This is also very good but is less easy to put in a bag as you really need to keep it upright. They are £25 and come in a range of colours.

Contigo is the best!

Contigo here too. It's amazing.

Another vote for Contigo. I've just purchased one for DD who starts her first job tomorrow. Robert Dyas had some on sale

Contigo is getting a lot of hype it seems! I'd get this one though as I don't want a very big one: mycontigo.com/en/travel-mugs/pinnacle-matte-black
Does anyone have it, does it work as well as the others?

@EternalPoinsettia these also look very nice!

I haven't got that one so can't comment on its effectiveness but I did see it in TK Maxx very recently.

This looks like a smaller version of the West Loop mug so I think it would work perfectly.

I’ve had mine (also matte black) for 5 years & it looks good as new, I’m currently using mine every day with a small baby. You can’t put the body in the dishwasher, but it’s fine to put the lid in.

lifeventure screw top thermal mugs are pretty bulletproof in my experience. Holds 1 decent size brew. I've never had a problem with leakage and it keeps a drink piping hot for hours.

Fancyateapottea · 16/08/2022 22:02

I love the SHO bottles. They do one that is all the things you describe except leak proof. I don’t personally mind as I have it upright in my car, carry it or put it in my bag when I’ve drank it. They do beautiful water bottles too.

Klean Kanteen - keeps my tea hot pretty much all day as how cute is this?
