This is going to sound awful. I am not a tight person at all, but 4 of my friends turn 50 this month and next, and they all live in EU countries, so I am finding myself with the prospect of spending a fortune on special gifts and postage, which right now is really difficult as I am equipping my son to get ready for Uni and all associated costs.

Each of these friends made a special effort for me when I turned 50 in February. The date coincided with my dog being put down, and I can't tell you how much their thoughtfulness and support meant to me.

I totally want to send them something but I can't spend a fortune, so I am looking to take advantage of online sales and be able to buy a simple bracelet, necklace or scarf that would normally be more expensive. Something tiny that won't cost too much to post.

These four friends do not know each other so I can buy the same gift for all.

I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of websites that sell decent accessories and are currently holding a sale? TIA!

Sometimes in the rush of life and thankless tasks, it's so lovely to hear someone tell you something true and unique about why you are special. This is worth more than a present. Write it down on a nice postcard that she can put in a drawer and treasure (especially after you are dead)

Then distill word or phrase from your longer message and put it in a ring that she can wear and take strength/comfort/joy from when she's cleaning the bog/getting a bollocking from her boss/being mansplained to

ALDO do really nice jewellery for really good prices. I would order something for under 10 then take the packaging off and wrap them in tissue to send
