Saresse and other things you thought you desperateley *needed*...

I lusted over one of these for a loooong time. Regularly saw adverts for them in the back of glossy magazines, but thought they were quite pricey for something that I might wear for at most a week every other year on a foreign holiday. I have a mental block about paying out more for something that would be better spent on 'everyday' stuff, with my budget. Anyhoo, I got the chance to buy one cheap! What can I say? Only that it turned out to be one of life's many crushing disappointments... Grin It's short on my 5'7'' frame, and therefore exposes my
fat knees. Also, the strap arrangement only looks good if you are presumably wearing a strap free bikini or cossie. That's not going to happen with my norkage. Has anybody loved their saresse? Does anyone want to share what their particular 'saress moment' was, and make me feel better, and distract me from the heat, which feels worse with a chubby menopausal body in my case! TIA.

I have one of these, and was also left somewhat disappointed. It does actually look quite good on me from the front. What I don’t like and what I wasn’t quite expecting was how low it is at the back. I was envisaging something I could put on over a costume (on a beach holiday) and go for lunch, but I would feel too exposed.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 14/08/2022 10:40

I think that's the thing @MermaidMeemaw . It's meant to be beach to (insert activity of choice) so that's a bit disappointing. I wonder if there's a special place in the back of charity warehouses where they all go to die Grin

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants
I’ve just resurrected mine thanks to your post. 🤣 It is the sort of thing I carry with me in hand luggage, as it is quite compact and quite useful in an emergency.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 14/08/2022 11:31

Not a pointless post from me then @MermaidMeemaw . Yes, I could see that being better than nothing if your luggage went AWOL. I'm off to Ireland soon, but I don't think that either the weather, or Ireland for that matter, is ready for my Saressed Menopausal Old Bag look! Grin

Oh goodness me. Are Mermaid and myself the only people who have been suckered into the Saresse hype? Surely hopefully not. Bumping.

I got suckered - years ago, when I fell for the promise that it would elegantly skim over all types of body and let you waft through a resort looking the part. We bought it from the airline - it was actually out of stock on our plane, but DH tracked it down from the company and picked it up the day after we arrived. I was so excited

I still had a post natal bod and was carrying oodles of extra weight, and it was just a sad swathe of fabric. It did nothing to camouflage, let alone render elegant.

I was disproportionately upset - but that wasn’t just because it was a let down, it was a whole pile of post-natal issues that came to a head because of dashed hopes of looking ‘normal’ for a while.

(But I wouldn’t recommend the garment either - once actually past the at stage and back to a normal weight and unexceptional shape, then I found a sarong just as good)

XingMing · 14/08/2022 19:34

DM gave me one for Christmas one year. Horrible fabric!

DietrichandDiMaggio · 14/08/2022 20:27

What on earth are they? Have never heard of them.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 14/08/2022 20:49

It seems they have now hit Ebay, and reduced in price, by lots here @DietrichandDiMaggio

I agree @XingMing the fabric isn't great.

Never heard of a saresse

TheBikiniExpert · 14/08/2022 21:48

Never heard of it but just looked it up and don't really get it. Surely there are loads of much cheaper and nicer beach cover ips?

MermaidMeemaw · 14/08/2022 23:24

Some pictures to show what we are talking about.

MermaidMeemaw · 14/08/2022 23:26

so all that looks perfectly nice. I don’t like the back.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 15/08/2022 16:17

I think mine comes up higher than that at the back. Maybe as the model is very slim, it has draped downwards, and I stretch that bit out, so less of a dip iuswim.
