Would you talk to me about teeth whitening?

A few years back I did this, using specially moulded mouth trays and gel. I need to do it again now, but the gel has escalated in price, plus chances are I would need another mouth tray made, because teeth do move slightly, and that's the most expensive part.

I always thought shop bought tooth whitening kits were rubbish- I remember DD messing about with one and not seeing any results - and also I've been scared off laser whitening.

However, am I right in saying that the over the counter kits are now much better quality? And that laser whitening (although probably expensive like mouth trays) is also much better/safer these days?

Would be great to hear anyone's thoughts!

I've never used the trays but had good results with Crest whitestrips.

Candelabrassiere · 12/08/2022 08:19

Thank you - perhaps they're worth a try. Does anyone else have any recommendations?

Crest whitestrips are amazing. I buy mine from Ukteethwhitening.

Thank you! I think I will give them a go. Can either of you tell me which version you used? Having googled, there are a few different types. Also how stained or yellow were your teeth before hand?

I used these ones.

My teeth weren't too bad beforehand but I felt they were getting a bit yellower than I would have liked, and my top canines were yellower than the rest for some reason. I only did 10 days' worth of the treatment but I felt that my teeth were noticeably brighter afterwards and the colour had evened up a bit too.

I will probably do it every 2 years or so.

Thanks! I'm going to give those a try. Sounds like the colour of your teeth was in a similar condition to mine Smile

In the uk the over the counter stuff is only 6% peroxide max which is what whitens your teeth. If you go to a dentist they can give you much stronger stuff which will make a difference.

Another vote for crest whites! I've never found anything else that really works as well and I get a lot of compliments on my teeth!

I can't understand all the love for Crest Whitening Strips. I noticed barely any difference at all, even though I followed the instructions to the letter.

Cotswoldmama · 22/08/2022 16:27

I've been using snow whitening I managed to find a discount code online for 30% off. It's American so there's tax to pay and postage but I spent about £130 and now I can just buy the whitening pens when I need more, which are cheaper. It works so well. I'll try and attach before and afters pics.

Why not first ask your dentist if your existing trays are still suitable - they might be?

Cotswoldmama · 22/08/2022 16:42

www.trysnow.com/products/teeth-whitening-kit this is the kit I bought I've still got a pen left. I did two weeks everyday and then twice a week and I've just been going it every now and again since, maybe once a month. I'm a coffee addict and my teeth have stayed the same as the 4 week photo.

I’ve tried crest twice. Once years ago and they worked, more recently they didn’t. Do you have any high street recommendations?
