Been for my consultation re thread veins on nose

Hello

Just back from my consultation re possible "diathermy" treatment on thread veins around and on nose.

The nurse practitioner said there was no point treating them as they will just come back (eg due to pressure when blowing nose).

Any thoughts?

I'm interested in this too.

Did she say how long it would take for them to return? There's a difference if it's after the first blow of a nose or after 5 years. And then is it possible to get them redone?

But I thought they kind of killed them off so I don't know how they'd reappear - I've probably misunderstood the treatment I guess!

She didn't say but was clear it would be a waste of time. Not really sure why they bother booking in consultations for thread vein removal then if you've marked that it's only round your nose.
I suppose it might be worth if if it was for your wedding or something.

Hello,

I had this done very recently and all the veins are gone!

I was told they could return but still went ahead with it. I'm delighted with the results too.

Mine were small but I had long ones protruding out my nostril which I hated, one treatment took it away.

I only paid £100 so feel it was worth it even if they do come back.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 10/08/2022 15:11

@flakynails

Can you tell me how and where you got this done? Thank you.

fishingpaintings · 10/08/2022 15:11

I've had two sessions (lots of veins) and am going back in October for a third. Happy to do a top up occasionally after that rather than live with the veins tbh. I saw the difference immediately after the first and second sessions.

I think mask wearing made them worse weirdly?! So when the mask mandate went, I was left a bit exposed!

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 10/08/2022 15:29

£100 would be great, even if I did have to have it repeated!

I had a couple done maybe three years ago. They haven’t come back but I’ve got a new one. Like @daretodenim said it’s not just if they come back, it’s the timeframe. If I get them done every 3-5 years or so that’s ok with me really.

is it worth going elsewhere for a second opinion @DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms

Wammawink · 10/08/2022 16:03

Some of mine came back after about 4 years which was good innings I think I keep meaning to rebook

I think that's pretty good. I have telangiactasia and it makes me very self-conscious these days. I've been waiting for removal to be safe and affordable.

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 10/08/2022 16:25

@ChilliPB it's hard to find anywhere that offers it.
And this is in Edinburgh, not some bloody backwater.
Fecking sk:n clinic are useless, their laser is always "missing a part", "needing the engineer to fix it".

@DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms I’m in Edinburgh too! But I had mine done in London so I don’t have any recommendations for you, unfortunately! And now I’m worried I won’t find anywhere when I need it redoing😱

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 10/08/2022 16:30

@ChilliPB Waves!
I used to live in London too!

This was Dermal Clinic, btw, in Morningside, to save you time. Perfectly decent and professional but obviously this is their view on nose veins.

And yeah, run a MILE from sk:n clinic - I left them a lengthy, detailed Google review as I was so hacked off with them wasting my time with appts cancelled at short notice. Plenty happy to take your money though (which I got refunded!)

I had mine done about 5 years ago, Leeds, and very pleased to say that few have returned. Made my eyes water a bit mind....😂

flakynails · 10/08/2022 22:08

I went to a laser suite outside of Inverness. It was very professional with great reviews online.

I was advised three sessions can be needed but one was enough surprisingly.

I've emailed the Dr Newman clinic at the old Caledonian Hotel. Will report back.

OK, the Dr Newman clinic phoned me already - good service!
It's 135 for consult tho and £400 or something PER TREATMENT (and you might need 3 of course). I'm going to go ahead though as it's annoying me so much and just hope they can do it in one treatment!

Ah Dermal Clinic is quite near me, thanks for the info @DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms - one not to bother with then. Glad you’ve had more luck with the Dr Newman clinic - so expensive though!
