Shorts and wedge sandals: yay or nay?

I'm late 40s and have just bought a couple of pairs of shorts I really like. They are denim and fairly short (but not Daisy Dukes!). I tried them on with a pair of wedge sandals (three inchers) and thought they looked really nice (and so did OH). But is that a faux pas? Should shorts only be worn with flats? I know I can wear whatever I like but I'd like to look nicely put together. Not exactly elegant as that's hard in shorts, but not the opposite either. What do MNters think?

Why would you spare even a second on what others think about what you wear?

Coffeepot72 · 09/08/2022 18:29

It sounds fine to me!

Personally I wouldn’t do shorts and heels in the same way I wouldn’t do a short skirt with heels. Would feel dated/ aging to me. I mostly wear flip flops or supergas with shorts

I think it sounds great- a very 70s vibe.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 09/08/2022 20:22

This is exactly what I wear and I think I look fab! Plus I don’t give a shit what other people think. Go for it, I say!

Love it for the 70s vibe, like Threes Company.

TheOnlyAletheia · 09/08/2022 20:57

I always wear denim shorts with espadrilles

IRememberXanadu · 10/08/2022 11:39

Yes, there's definitely a 70s vibe there that I really like. That's it then - I will indeed do shorts and wedge sandals :-)

I love smart shorts, wedges and a linen shirt.
Looks fab IMO
