Where to look at designer bags?

I’m thinking about buying a £££ bags, having had a rubbish time and having the money to do it? I’m thinking either Chanel second hand or new Saint Laurent or similar. However I want to look at some Chanel bags in real life to get an idea of materials and size. Is there base place to go the Bond Street store? What are the staff like? I’ve held very senior corporate roles, but as an overweight 40 something I’m easily intimidated by a very glamorous 20 something fashionista. I’ll be bringing out my best handbags and accessories, but will the staff take me seriously? The rest I plan to look in Selfridges, where I’ll feel more confident, but I don’t think they stock Chanel

You could go to Sellier in Knightsbridge which is a trusted secondhand Chanel seller and usually have a good array of bags to browse without too much intimidation. It's not too far off Harrods where there is a Chanel boutique in store which is a bit less daunting to go to as well (the actual boutique might also have a queue at the door).

Don't overdress though, no need for that, just be comfortable in yourself. All sorts buy at these places it would be pretty bad business to prematurely write anyone off on their appearance.

Thanks for the tip. A friend was suggesting Harrods rather than Selfridges, and I’ve not been to that area in years, so a wonder round a few places might be fab.

Selfridges stocks Chanel - I think there are actually two boutiques. Harrods also has two or maybe three with shoes. I wouldn't worry about dressing up etc they have hundreds of customers a day - all from different walks of life. Maybe try to go at a quieter time so you're not waiting for ages. I always go to Selfridges as they are really friendly. The Bond Street store is lovely but so busy - as is Harrods. Hope you get something lovely
