Another wedding guest dress one...

Going to a wedding in early September and I'm really struggling to decide on a dress...

I'm late 30s, 5'4 and usually a size 8 depending on shop. Have no hips and quite wide shoulders, quite a boyish shape so usually find that a fitted top and flared, A-line skirts suit me better.. Or a fitted top with a more flowy skirt. A straight up and down pencil shape does nothing for me! Likewise, no to cold-shoulder/off the shoulder things as they just accentuate my wide shoulders...

I'm quite petite so I've never really found maxi/midi dresses to suit me nor anything with too much material as they just drown me.. So ideally something knee-length or just above.

Originally liking the idea of something quite bohemian/grecian/lace/tulle but not really found anything that fits the above and/or doesn't look like a bridesmaid dress!

I'd also like something that I can wear a cardigan with so weird sleeves are out...

So not asking for much 😁

Attached a few I've spotted, but not sure on... Third is however out of stock in my size...

Also this, but also out of stock in my size and not sure if it's weddingy enough...

Thank you 😊

Pretty Kitty have some lovely stuff.

Of the ones above, the red one says party to me, not wedding, the turquoise is great, the halterneck is a bit casual and the last one is rather beach holiday.

But I am no fashionista so feel free to ignore.

Monsoon is always worth a look

Thanks! Their dresses do seem lovely... I just wonder if they will swamp me a bit...

This is not like your suggestions at all but what about something like this? I feel like the styles you prefer are a bit dated (sorry, I know MN hates that word) especially knee-length. This is midi but with the ruching shows a bit more leg. I'm shorter than you and find these styles flattering. I also think they flatter a boyish figure. Could be worn with a cardigan (although I'd suggest a blazer instead)

I have to agree Househelp that the styles you're looking at are a bit dated. The middle one is the best out of the lot. I think the first one is a bit short and aimed at a younger age group. Also it looks like it could potentially be quite cheap material and the third one is quite ugly, personally.

Next and Petal & Pup are my go to for weddingy dresses. MIDI dresses are your friend, possibly with some sort or ruching or detail at the waist. Some detail on the sleeve, like a slight puff sleeve, would balance out your frame as well. Wrap dresses are great at creating the illusion of a waist too. As a size 8 though you can pretty much wear anything.

Thanks for the suggestions... Though puffy sleeves and/or clingy skirts unfortunately don't suit my shape.

Will consider a midi length though.. Though have always thought this was a no no for the more petite!

Quite like this, but wonder if it's too much material...

More suggestions:

1 - although I hate how they've styled this, the wedges are far too clumpy
2
3

I feel like these are slightly more modern versions of the styles you posted. Patterns and tiered or ruffled skirts also take away the bridemaid look.

Not for a wedding, it looks very cheap to me!

@Grecian16 Of your original suggestions the turquoise is best.
