Winter wedding guest dress

Hi I'm going to a wedding in late November, I want something weather appropriate probably with tights and something comfortable enough to wear with my 2 kids around me! Ideally midi length, I'm currently a size 16 hoping to be 14 at that stage (was a size 22 on a rigid exercise regime!) I'm very large busted and an hourglass shape. Any ideas?! Thanks!

Oh fantastic, hope we get some ideas I'm clueless with fashion.

I wore a deep jewel toned green dress (mid calf) that had a wrap around the waist area and a slightly off shoulder look to a winter wedding last year - similar to this but with an actual wrap waist and slightly skater skirt bottom. It was the scuba like material so skimmed really well and was so so flattering.

Sorry attached 😂

Thats lovely, I never wear green but I am brunette with slightly olive skin so maybe I should.

I'm also brunette (albeit pasty!) and got so many compliments on the colour - it'll make you look fab especially with olive skin. The wrap hid my tummy (where I hold my weight) and gave a subtle cleavage to distract 😂 it was the first wedding guest dress I'd felt good in and the midi length was so flattering and kept me warm!

Oh yes a velvet dress would be beautiful- just off to google. I've found these on oasis and these dobby dresses (in 3 colours) are so lovely but not sure they'd be suitable for a winter wedding? I also love the Lyanna one.
What do we think about the lace one? I'm using the plus size section as I have a J cup chest so find they fit better. Thanks.

Too much? I do like this one but not sure if it's too much for a wedding.

Not too much at all, that’s beautiful! We’ve got our Civil Partnership in October, very small, no real ceremony but I want to look nice and I’m very similar shape and size to you OP so watching this thread for inspiration. @yonce that green dress is wonderful, where was it from?

Thanks, what did you think of the oasis dresses just out of interest?

Honestly they aren’t my cup of tea, but I’m not floral and or romantic at all! I think velvet would be more practical for November too, especially if it’s a church wedding.

yonce · 06/08/2022 12:21

@MilitantFawcett I got mine from boohoo I think - or chi chi London, was under £100 if I remember!

I have this one from them that I wear for Christmas parties with tights and red shoes. I feel fabulous in it.

StStephensTower · 06/08/2022 16:03

I saw this earlier, looks good for dressing up with accessories but also comfortable

If you like vintagey style at all Would you consider something like this

or lots of plain and patterns here in a dress without jacket

I think it looks really good. The oasis dresses look more practical with kids, but this one looks fabulous

Have to say thank you to this thread for introducing me to Pretty Kitty. In my head I’m Jane Russell so this is perfect!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/08/2022 12:18

Agree that velvet could be lovely, although hard to tell quality from those pics. The one that @waltzingparrot posted is a gorgeous colour.

This one is a lovely colour too

The floral ones look a bit ordinary/dull imo. I think if you want to go floral, it needs to be really deep colouring imo - this sort of thing maybe?

How do you feel about animal print? The colours in this are beautifully autumnal, and the All Saints silk mix dresses feel beautiful.

I highly recommend these two dresses from this website, www.bajoux.com.
My sister-in-law did wear the blue one for my wedding reception and she has a 3y/o daughter to attend. She seems comfortable with the dress. I also found another on their website, which I think is so cool.
