Do Magic Pants work?

wantslotsofbabies · 19/01/2008 20:24

We have a 'do' in three weeks time and my diet has gone pear-shaped, like my bum.
Has anyone tried 'Magic Pants'? Can you breathe in them? There are lots of different ones so what is heavy duty for a belly the size of Ben Nevis?
ps not pg but look 'heavy with child'

Yes Yes yes. They work soo well I wear them during the week now too. The best ones I have got are from Matalan, about £10. They go from under the boobs to mid thigh. I love them, they trim off 2 inches easily. Yes you can breathe, and pee.

hatwoman · 19/01/2008 20:29

haven't tried the boobs to thigh variety but totally agree - they definitely work.

Maidamess · 19/01/2008 20:30

'Boobs to thigh' rock because you don't get tummy roll peeping over the top.

constancereader · 19/01/2008 20:31

I love my magic pants.

They are comfortable enough.

Pinkveto · 19/01/2008 20:33

They are comfortable? ? Typo?

Mine kept on rolling down at the top, so you get an extra bulge of pant, and a very tight band cutting into the top of your tummy.

And you can pee, but you dont want to very often. Not if youre wearing a dress that has to be undo to get the pants down....

pukkapatch · 19/01/2008 20:34

it depends on what you want them to do.
if you want them to make a size 22 appear a size ten, then they wont do that. but if you want to get a smooth line under your clothes, so you cant see the bit where you knickers are cutting your jelly belly in half, then yes, they work wonders. whatevry size you are. basically they just hold evrything in place.
if you decide to buy them, go for the pricier ones. the 36 quid ones form figleaves are a gazillion times better than the 20 quid ones from marks. i dont know about the even pricier ones as i cant afford to try those.

pukkapatch · 19/01/2008 20:36

good ones are comfortable. not only should they be easy to breathe in, but sitting and standing and dancin should all be comfy.
peeing should be perfectly feasible, though you may not want ot go twenty times in an evening.

wantslotsofbabies · 19/01/2008 20:37

Thanks Are they called 'Magic Pants'? Is that what I ask for? Even Trinny and Suzanna have some out. I just need really robust ones.

Spanx are one fairly top end brand.

Check the sizing on the box very carefully...

fishie · 19/01/2008 20:38

i got a pair of sloggis £1 in sale from debenhams and a pair of magic ones from m&s for £18. about the same, so sent m&s back. sloggis nicer, cotton. you have got to try them on too, does depend what shape you are, i found the ones that go up higher just roll down because i have a high waist and big rib cage. they'd be good if you are pear shaped, but then you would probably be after arse lifters.

Maidamess · 19/01/2008 20:39

Get ones that look tiny in the packet, tinier than you can ever imagine getting on. But you will if they are your size. Look for lots of elastane or lycra. I didn't rate the M&S ones either FWIW.

pukkapatch · 19/01/2008 20:39

i love these

Hassled · 19/01/2008 20:41

My problem with the pants is that they just pushed the flab upwards and I looked like I had some sort of growth under my ribcage. I've now gone for the M&S "bodies" which hold the flab in and push the flab up to my cleavage, which is fine!

pukkapatch · 19/01/2008 20:42

qo through quidco to get 11% off, and you can usually find other discount codes for figleaves around.

southeastastra · 19/01/2008 20:43

be careful with them if you have dodgy veins, by sister came out in a big bruise after using them

wantslotsofbabies · 19/01/2008 20:44

Thanks for the link, pukkapatch. I liked the comment someone wrote on it about "having a little muffin"...I look like I've got the baker of the muffin.

gemmiegoatlegs · 19/01/2008 20:46

does anybody know where to get the "like having bum implant" ones that gok wan was on about. I have no other problem areas but have a bum that doesn't fill my knickers let alone my jeans!

Lmccrean · 19/01/2008 20:54

padded panty www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=RAG-914 they didnt work for me, personally, but got rave reviews (I worked at figleaves up til recently)

spanx underbust to thigh www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=SPX-HIGHERPOWER

If worried about it rolling down, then try www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=SPX-67 which clips to your bra.

I have yet to find a bodysuit that doesnt squish boobs but have a look at www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=TBW-44630 I love it, except for fact the cups arent padded.

pukkapatch · 19/01/2008 20:55

thats teh one i like the best, because it goes all the way up to my bra line, and i dont get the massive muffin top.
no idea about the bum thing. but if you find it, please let me konow, my bum is flat as a apancake too.

chipo · 19/01/2008 21:53

I bought this last summer and it was worth every penny, wear it loads. I have bought similar cheaper ones in the past and they have been rubbish.

Wotz · 19/01/2008 21:56

I am not sure
I have never had anyone say
"hey you must be wearing magic pants'

so who knows?

giggly · 20/01/2008 20:33

Simply Be do a full body one to,it has been mentioned by Wok or how to look 10 years younger or somewhere else, they all blend into one. I've got the spanx and it gets my vote for holding it all in ,in the right place, really crap to get off though when drunk, also a great libido killer.
