First Holy Communion - hot country - boy's outfit

My son is making his first holy communion on Sunday in a hot country (think 36 degrees).

I've got him a white linen grandad shirt, smart navy shorts (with belt) and navy leather suede loafers.

Is that acceptable? I was worried shorts aren't the done thing, but as it's so hot I thought it might be ok?

Should be white shorts really and smart shoes no socks.

Could the priest or catechist offer advice as to what the normal attire is? Or someone you know whose son made his say last year?

Churches tend to be much cooler than outside, and I've only ever seen boys wearing smart trousers (and a lot of suits even in very hot places).

But I second checking with the catechist.

@summersungin that sounds perfect to me(Irish,In Ireland, been to lots of communions) this year I was at 3 and there were boys dressed exactly like that at all of them. Definitely not white shorts!!!

Ok, thank you for your replies! Will try and ask and grab something last minute if they suggest different.

I think it sounds lovely. Not sure of norms in different places but can't see any reason why he should not wear that. Hope he has a great day.
