Hi, Man here.

I saw an advert for this hair dryer and I think it would make a nice present for my wife

Dyson

Would anyone who has one care to comment? Is it good for creating volume?

I have one, and I absolutely love it.

in regards to volume, I find the opposite in fact. I have a lot of hair, and I find the Dyson makes it quite a bit sleeker, it really smooths the hair so more likely to make it sit flatter.

I personally find that, as opposed to my other hairdryer (Parlux).

It has a lot of different attachments - 5, which all do different things. They're not included so I wondered about which ones were good.

The comb attachment seems to be for volume, but it says this is for afro or textured hair which she doesnt have.

Haha - just noticed the advert to the right is for a Revlon volumiser plus. Damn cookies/AI - dont miss a thing do they?!

I have one and find it good, but quite heavy to hold.

I have recently purchased one. I know they’re expensive but it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought! I have a nightmare drying my curly hair and this makes it so easy. I find it very light to hold and makes my frizzy hair super smooth.

The attachments were all included when I bought mine recently.

It's the best hairdryer I've ever had. The difference is noticeable to others, not just me (and that's when comparing to my previous Diva / Parlux).

Can't comment on volume as I prefer a more sleek look.

I have purchased the Dyson airwrap and it is very cheaply made. The feel and look of it when you hold it does not scream £480s.

I say this because as soon as I took it out of the box one of the parts fell off. Then the weight of the actual thing is light, which means that motor (the most expensive part) is not high quality.

I have fine mixed Afro hair and I tested it, doing half my head with Parlux hair dryer followed by GHDs, then other half with the Dyson airwrap.

I was very disappointed the Dyson airwrap left my hair frizzy; after 30 minutes the curls were no longer tight, and this was using Kerastase Elixir. Really disappointed. Certainly the heat and power it too weak to do anything to my hair.

I would suggest to buy something nice like a spa day instead.

The supersonic hairdryer is excellent for drying hair fast. I love mine. Personally I think volume comes down to how you blow-dry your hair, not the type of hairdryer. So a big round brush and the Dyson would create volume - and quickly!

Cannot answer your question about the Dyson as I have never tried it. I can recommend the Revlon volumiser though I love it. My hair is fine and naturally wavy. I have tried zillions of products for getting body into fine hair and the best by far is Thickefy Foam by Sebastian.

What am I missing here? This seems to be the exact same hair-drier

Dyson?

It’s just a copy

IloveJudgeJudy · 29/07/2022 13:34

That ain't no Dyson. If you're going to buy it, please buy the real thing.

I've had mine since Christmas 2017. I love it. My family (including boys) were sceptical until they used it. I get such superior results when I use it and it's much quicker.

Mine was bought from Boots for the points but you used to be able to buy direct from Dyson and pay in instalments with a 30-day return policy. QVC do the same, both for no extra cost.

It fried my hair would not recommend the real one, gave it to my daughter

il0vew1ne · 29/07/2022 19:11

She says it’s average

I used the Dyson curl wand to curl my hair, which did make my hair curly but that didn't last more than 30 minutes before the curls frizzed out again. While when I curled it using the GHDs the curl stays in place.
