I am currently desperately trying to get to what I have in my mind as a very short tight bob, with front bits sitting about chin level, with a short back. My last haircut 8 weeks ago did not go to plan, the front bits got cut too short and the back not short enough. I had a cracking mullet by week 4 🥴

Now, I just had a trim today and I am still not quite happy with how it looks. I know the front will take another few months to get to where I want it to after the last haircut, but the back is very duckbutt look. I have another haircut appointment tomorrow to get it fixed (don't want another mullet in few weeks, thanks), and I was going to ask for a nape undercut. Am I being delusional that this will look good?

First pic is me today after a trim, the ducktail that I don't care for. Next pic is what I would actually like (the back specifically).

I am no English rose, and my USP is slight quirkiness. I wear bright stand out glasses and need a sharp cut to 'go with the look' that should fit with my professional job.

Will I be making a mistake by asking for an undercut? Am I chasing something not compatible with my hairline/type?

I like the second pics .I'm not a haidresser but I can't see why you can't have that done to your present cut.

Wellthatsjustswell · 26/07/2022 22:12

Do it. I think it will look fab.
The way my hairline is, I too ended up with a duckbutt when I had a short Bob.

Of the second pics are the example, do it, looks fab!

Yes, second pic is the example.

Now I am getting giddily excited about tomorrow 😬

I’d definitely go with the undercut, I think it would look fab on you x
fingers crossed it goes ok and please come back and show us a pic after ♥️

I would like to see it too. Had a very similar issue very recently. Have had it squared off and it’s much better. No duck tail/mullet here!

I wouldn’t suit what you have suggested but I think with your overall look it will be much much better.

There is clearly a hairdresser issue around this.

Mc3209 · 27/07/2022 09:01

Thank you, everyone! Undercut it is then. I shall report back once I have it done.

Do it! I've had it done recently and love it. My hair's curly on top.

urgen · 27/07/2022 16:23

I also had mine clippered at the back and my hairdresser said when I came in for a free fringe trim I can have the back sorted too.

Ilovetable · 27/07/2022 18:08

Did you get it it OP? I wish I had enough hair for an undercut!

Mc3209 · 27/07/2022 19:08

Got it! And much happier with it.
(Excuse my slobby dressing, I am on annual leave and really milking 'active wear').

@Ilovetable my hair is fine and tends to look like rat's tail if I grow it long, and I find it looks better with a shorter cut.

It looks really really nice OP
lovely volume on the crown you have good thick hair ❤️

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 27/07/2022 19:14

Looks much better , I had very similar last year with the under cut one side as well. It's really easy to grow out when as well

Ilovetable · 27/07/2022 19:33

Looks fab! Good on you for going for it!
