Im 5'6" and 135 pounds atm and I don't work out much bc if depression though I do walk a lot just because I don't have a car and public transport makes me anxious.. I don't count my calories I kind id just eat whatever which leaves me feeling fatigued. Also I'm not vegetarian but the only meat I eat is chicken and i sometimes have fish too

9 1/2 stone at 5 ft 6 and you want to lose that much in a short space of time?

PickAChew · 18/07/2022 22:53

At your current weight, not healthily. You are already a healthy weight and need to focus on your fitness, strength and health, rather than losing more.

evelynn03 · 18/07/2022 22:54

@gamerchick I was under 115 pounds a year ago.. I feel awful now because I eat whenever I'm stressed or bored and it's affecting my self esteem a lot I have an apple body type so unfortunately any weight I gain usually goes to my stomach and I miss having a smaller waist) : I'm sorry if I'm sounding silly

Why do you want to be underweight?

evelynn03 · 18/07/2022 22:55

@PickAChew I have an apple body shape with basically no waist) : I was hoping that losing that weight would make me lose a few inches of my waist too :/

No snacks, just a light breakfast, lunch & dinner. Keto-style eating would work. Going to bed hungry most nights, you could lose up to 20lbs in 8 weeks.

evelynn03 · 18/07/2022 22:56

@Sanfranciscobabe i don't, just want to have a smaller waist bc it's basically non existent rn cause I have an apple body shape so I feel like i only look good when I'm at my skinniest

Do some exercise then

Watchthesunrise · 18/07/2022 22:58

Drink lots of water. Incorporate high nutrition food. Supplement with hard-to-access vitamins like magnesium, zinc and the omegas. Go on lots of walks and spend time outside in nature without your phone (leave it at home).

You may not lose weight but your mental health will improve and you'll feel better about the world in general.

gamerchick · 18/07/2022 23:01

Tbh you would be better off overall doing strength training if you want to change your body shape. Fuel your body properly and it is good for your mental health. Rather than just aim to be skinny. You're aiming for underweight, your bones won't thank you for it later on in life.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 18/07/2022 23:09

Do you eat a lot of sugar? I only ask because weight round the middle can be sugar related and cutting that out as opposed to food in general might give you the smaller waist you want.

MsFrenchie · 18/07/2022 23:22

No, that’s not reasonable. It’s far too fast, will be unsustainable, will bring risks to yourself, and even if you get close you’ll likely rebound quickly.

You need to pick a sensible target, like 0.5kg per week, work out the calorie balance that you need to achieve that, and then work out how to accommodate that in a sustainable way.

PickAChew · 18/07/2022 23:35

It might, but don't set yourself ridiculous timescales to lose it all then go back to how you were eating before because you will simply put it back on again. It's also not sensible or healthy to aim for a bmi of 17.8, at any pace. Improve your diet, don't reduce it.

What do you eat in a typical day, anyhow?

LeafHunter · 18/07/2022 23:46

You’d be better off working on your self
esteem and confidence/anxiety instead.

Your body type isn't the problem, your brain is.

Fawnia · 18/07/2022 23:54

I would say this plan will just make you miserable if anything else OP. I’ve started just eating lighter meals in the last month and lost 5lb. Having done it properly and not crash dieted, my body fat percentage is coming down too.

goodgoodday · 19/07/2022 06:23

You might be able to afford to lose that much. It would take you to the lowest healthy BMI. If you have a small frame that is healthy. I've a small frame and the lowest healthy BMI which is right for me. You don't need to do it that quickly, though. Toning up will massively improve your waist. One exercise that is great for this is lying down flat on your back and raising your legs up 30 degrees and criss crossing them over and over again (like scissors). Another good one is plank. Running is also great for losing body fat and mental health. As for food, 3 light meals, no snacking. Plenty of fluid. Easy enough in the hot weather. Salads are great.

This video is good to get you started with running.

Oh and here's a BMI calculator which will put things into perspective. 🙂
