Floor length dress for a wedding? Faux pas?

I’ve found a lovely dress for a family wedding but it’s floor length, I usually wear tea dress length for a wedding but I do love this dress.
Is it a faux pas to wear a longer dress? If the bride were particularly high maintenance would it then be a bad idea?

I think you'll be fine, providing it's a dress, not a gown. And not white.

Entirely depends on the dress and how you wear it

As above a ball gown long dress no but a floral floaty light maxi dress would work well

I think it's fine, depending on the style I'd maybe check it wasn't the same colour as bridesmaids dresses though.

I wore an emerald maxi to my friend's wedding it never occurred to me not to, there were others wearing floor length too

I only ever wear maxi because I have leg issues- it’s literally never crossed my mind that it would offend someone. I guess if you’re worried about looking like a bridesmaid then either check what colours they’re wearing or go for a patterned maxi.

Lovely as long as it’s not white. Have fun.

A summery maxi dress would be fine - if it were a formal gown that would be a bit much unless it were a black tie wedding.

Absolutely fine to wear a long dress 😊 I was at a wedding last weekend and there were loads of people in lovely floor length dresses!
Normal rules apply - stay away from white and nothing hugely booby/leggy!
If I’m wearing a long dress to a wedding then j tend to try and avoid anything that’s a plain single colour, just incase it’s the same colour as the bridesmaids 😬 but I know lots of people wouldn’t bother about that!
