If Pat McGrath is British, why can't we buy her makeup anywhere?

There's only one physical store for Pat McGrath in the UK, but you can buy it at pretty much any Sephora in the US. 🙄Why?? I really want to try her foundation, but at £60 a pop and no samples, how do people get a good match?

Are you anywhere near Selfridges? They have a huge concession there.
Or you can buy from their own web site in the UK. I've bought from there before.

I know what you mean though, you want to be able to test before you buy.

I love the makeup. The foundation is wonderful.

Littleguggi · 14/07/2022 20:53

I've brought from selfridges both in store and online. Saying that, I'm sure I've brought direct from the website too and I'm in the UK.

HighHiHopes · 14/07/2022 20:56

Pat McGrath? 😂
Sounds like a golfer 🏌️

BoxOfCats · 14/07/2022 21:06

I'm in New Zealand and even I can buy PMG at the Sephora store 10 mins from my house!
Sephora really jacks up the prices though so I always just buy direct from the PMG website anyway.

chiffchaffchiff · 14/07/2022 21:25

We don't have Sephora in the UK Sad

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 14/07/2022 21:33

Never heard of her or him but that is one Irish name for sure. Is the make up good? will have to check for reviews on it.

Littleguggi · 14/07/2022 21:42

I've tried the foundation, concealer, mascara in a gold tube (but it's always out of stock online so haven't been able to repeat a purchase), the lip liners, lipsticks and lip gloss (which came free with an order) and I can honestly say I love them all!

MarshaMelrose · 14/07/2022 21:50

I think she only sells in Selfridges - I know she has a concession in Manchester. I don't know about the other stores. It's very poor really. I wonder why? Maybe she has an agreement with other makeup companies not to?

She pronounces the “th” in McGrath, which I have always found very strange. Or maybe that’s how Americans say it and she just goes along with it?

FredaFox · 14/07/2022 22:00

I've bought from Selfridges in Manchester, only bought eye shadow as it's £££ but the pigment is great. I'll buy more products

PaperDoves · 15/07/2022 08:36

Apologies, it turns out there are four Selfridges, not just one. But still, for the vast majority of us, myself included, it's a huge journey to get to one of these shops.

Those of you who buy online, how did you colour match your foundation before buying? Did you just roll the dice? I wonder what their return policy is like.

I'm also a little wary because the last time everyone loved a product (Nars Radiant Longwear), it really didn't work for me at all. But I'm always on the lookout for a new holy grail foundation and really want to try Pat McGrath! If I could guarantee the colour I'd buy online in a heartbeat.

I haven’t used that particular foundation before but I have used this website where you put in your shades for products you use currently or have liked in the past and it tells you what shade you should be in the product you want to try findation.com

Ontomatopea · 15/07/2022 08:43

I have the foundation. I used the findation website and it worked well, but before I went ahead I bought a sample card off ebay. It has limited number of shades but luckily the shade I wanted was on there.

I would however suggest you wait for a sale, they have so many sales. And then if you get it and its the wrong shade whack it on ebay and you should get most your cash back.

Beck01 · 15/07/2022 08:43

Order from the website. Always good sales. Haven't boughtvtge foundation but know it is highly recommended. Used loads of her the lip glosses

Ontomatopea · 15/07/2022 08:44

Ps. The found is good, I love it but it is not heavy coverage and I find it does transfer a bit if I don't set it down with powder.

BoxOfCats · 15/07/2022 08:45

If you're looking for a foundation match, have a look at the Foundation Matrix from Temptalia. If you know your match in other brands it will help you find the corresponding shade.

Ontomatopea · 15/07/2022 08:46

Just checked and it cost me £37 in the last sale (it was a whopping 40% off)

PaperDoves · 15/07/2022 09:10

Oh fantastic, I do love a good sale! I'll try to sit on my hands and wait for one. Getting a shade card from ebay is a great idea too!

They are really quite regular, often 20-30% off. There's usually one for black Friday but thr latest ranges tend to be excluded. Also on the website there's a discount when you sign up to the mailing list that can usually be combined with other offers. (Can you tell I love pat mcgrath?! Haha)
