Washing hair in the evening

If you wash your hair in the evening and let it air dry over night, what do you do to it in the morning to make it look presentable? I have to wash my hair daily but don't always have the time in the morning but when I sleep on it wet it looks awful the next day. I can't plait it either as it will still be wet when I get up.

I either have to dry it the night before or straighten in the morning otherwise it is just a mess.

SummerLobelia · 14/07/2022 18:23

I condition it and brush it in the shower then towel dry.

In the morning I use dry shampoo and brush again.

I have very fine and oily hair and this works a treat except in very hot weather when I need to wash it twice a day.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 14/07/2022 18:24

Brush it. I only wash it max twice a week though

Gillybobs · 14/07/2022 18:35

I just run the straighteners through mine quickly, takes 2 mins

mynameiscalypso · 14/07/2022 18:40

I blow dry mine roughly and then plait it for waves or just leave it and straighten it in the morning.

I have to wash mine in the morning, otherwise it looks terrible and can’t be tamed, not even with hairdryer/straightners.

I saw a thing on TikTok where, once it’s air dried, you roll the long hair around a big sock and secure with a hair band on the top of your head. Unravel in the morning and you have nice gentle waves. I also tried it when hair was still slightly damp but that was far too curly.
I go to bed with my sock in most nights now 😂

This kind of thing, but I don’t have it tied in a scrunchie to start

I wash my hair every evening, hairdryer a bit on the top and leave it to dry while i potter/ watch tv. Low loose ponytail for bed, and quick once over with straightener in the morning

purplecorkheart · 14/07/2022 18:54

If I wash my hair in the evening I have to fully dry it airdry/blowdryer. If it is anyway damp when I go to bed it looks almost greasy in patches. It also looks very fluffy but my hair is fine and straight so a brush and a ponytail works ok

But her hair is about eight feet long!

I air dry on an evening and then use straighteners on a morning. Takes me about 2 min to do. I think it does look better if it’s been blowdried on a morning, but I haven’t got the time or energy for that.

Usually it looks fine for 2 days, sometimes I do 3 and use a bit of dry shampoo on a morning. My hair is straight and fine and shoulder length

Hopeislost · 14/07/2022 19:00

I wash my hair at night, go to bed with damp hair, and then style in the morning. If I style it before bed then it'll need redoing in the morning anyway!

chickma · 14/07/2022 19:02

I wash mine at night, leave it to dry, then just tie it up in a ponytail for work. If I'm not working I straighten it, which takes a while because my hair is thick, heavy and quite long.

SpaceJamtart · 14/07/2022 19:14

Air dry it a bit and then plait it up

Would usually wear it up the next day incase anything is a bit wonky

ilovetomatoes · 14/07/2022 19:19

I have a spray bottle with a mix of conditioner and water. I lightly dampen it in the morning then dry it. Reluctant to use straighteners as I bleach my hair so would be like straw.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 14/07/2022 19:22

I wash mine, go to bed with it wet, wake up to it dry and brush it and it's fine. If it goes a bit funny I put some detangling spray in it and that sorts it out.

BensonBunny · 14/07/2022 23:46

Really depends on your hair type. I tie up with a silk scrunchie after towel drying then straighten in the morning, if it's still a bit damp I'll blast with the hairdryer first. I leave for work at 6:40 and this is the quickest method for me, no way I'm getting up earlier to shower and blow dry my hair!

Mine isn’t anywhere near that long. It still works.
