How do you retouch your makeup during the day and after work. - please share your tips

Hi everyone,
As suggested in the title, I am ok with makeup in the morning before work. It is a relevantly simple routine. Cleansing and moisturising followed by sunscreen, foundation, filling in eyebrow, a touch of eye shadow (using fingers), and lipstick.
The dilemma is that in the afternoon, some of my makeup are gone (i.e. foundation, eye shadow). This means I don't quite need to wash my face and redo my make-up. Even I want to, it is not possible carry all the cleansers and make-ups with me. But when retouch my makeup, because I can not start from the first step of cleansing, I always end up with bad/half done makeup that not nearly as good as the morning one I do at home.
I am stuck in the rock and a hard place as I need to retouch but the result of the retouch is equally bad.
Therefore I came to MN for help and any tips on how to retouch your makeups or and recommendations are very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Grin I just never put it on to start with. Eliminates the issue.

I just put it on in the morning and that's it for the day.

Use a primer before you apply it or a setting spray after you apply it. Loose powder also works.

I second the primer and defnitely the setting spray - what a difference it makes.

SophieHasOneQuestion · 13/07/2022 22:57

@WeAreTheHeroes - Thank you very much. Will it last around 8 hours, especially that I have oily skin.

I only retouch lipstick and sometimes eye pencil and undereye concealer (I only use primer sometimes)
Never foundation or mascara

I just slap on a bit more over the top - well not over the top, because it’s mostly come off

I use tinted moisturiser rather than foundation. Does your foundation cake when you put more on. Is that the problem?

I find mine lasts really well with primer and powder, but I'm pushing fifty and my skin is drier than it used to be. I wear relatively little make up day to day, like you. I suggest finding a primer for oily skin - maybe other posters have recommendations?

Also worth noting that things like matte powder based eyeshadow tends to be longer lasting than things with shimmer and cream formulations

SophieHasOneQuestion · 13/07/2022 23:52

@WeAreTheHeroes - thank you, almost bought trinny london cream based eye shadow. :)

Always use an eyeshadow base with powder eye makeup.
Use primer, tinted Serum and powder.

Seems to stay on ok

Try Veil retouching fluid by Hourglass. It's somewhere between a concealer and a light foundation. I just dab a bit on where needed and blend with fingers. It's really good stuff.

Otherwise a damp beauty blender just bounced over existing make up evens things out a bit. I only carry concealer or the Veil retouching fluid, lipstick ( can double as blusher), an eyebrow pencil, a make up sponge and a couple of cotton wool buds to deal with any mascara slippage.

Try this setting spray by make up revolution, it's sweat proof and stays on!
