Is this a thing?

I've never been in before. My daughter asked for some raspberry bath lolly or something so nipped in.

Got to till and was asked if my day was going OK, I must have looked pretty miserable as I said it was going alright as I was offered a free gift. Was asked what smells I like, lavender! And was given a free tub of lavender shower gel. Then the person said wait a minute and went and got me a free full sized bath bomb too!

Was so nice. Felt a bit shit lately and it really cheered me up.

Does it happen often 😂 might have to go back

Yes it’s a thing, DD seems to luck out almost every time.

chouxpetitfilous · 13/07/2022 14:26

Yes, it's a thing.
I once went in with my 2 preschooler and clearly was stressed out and they offered me a bath bomb and the kids a couple of broken ones that they couldn't sell.

I got some samples of hair stuff as well.

They are always really nice in my local shop, I know the selling approach is not to everyone's taste though.

Oh I feel like a right pleb now. I gave her a hug as it proper cheered me up.

She must think I'm a nutter 😂😭

Ive never seen this! Don't feel like a pleb, I bet it's a lovely part of her job to make someone's day like that!

purpledagger · 13/07/2022 14:56

One of the staff once gave my children a free bath bomb each, which I thought was lovely of them.

spfy · 13/07/2022 15:49

I get it all the time in pret..its embarrassing as I'm convinced I must have a miserable face. I'm off to lush next weekend so will see if my miserable face works it's magic! Haha

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 13/07/2022 15:52

Did they give you a free breast binder as well? Or do they keep them for them for the young teenagers?

Cinderella88 · 13/07/2022 15:54

Yes I've had that happen before and it really cheered me up!

plinkyplanky · 13/07/2022 15:56

Yes, it is a thing staff are allowed to do at random. Nice customers or maybe someone who seems like they would appreciate it. A hug is a welcome and normal response, she won't think you're a nutter at all!

Lush the bath bomb shop yeah? They sell breast binders or is this a joke I'm not getting sorry.

Numbat2022 · 13/07/2022 15:58

Yes, you're allowed to give a certain amount away - usually wastage because bath bombs break really easily 🙄 or products they want to sell more of.

ArcticRoll2 · 13/07/2022 16:00

Oh I normally avoid all the unnecessary chat in lush as they drive me nuts constantly asking if I need help! No wonder I’ve never been given any freebies they must think I’m an absolute bitch 😂

Unfortunately It’s no joke , take a look at the feminist threads about Lush & The Body Shop with regards to their attitude towards girls & breast binders

DrDetriment · 13/07/2022 16:08

They often do that. They are lovely in there but I won't give Lush my money anymore because of their political stance on a number of issues.

Yes I got a free lunch at pret once for no reason. He just said lunch on me today.

cbatopainttheshed · 13/07/2022 19:15

I don't shop in lush due to some of the very poor sensationalist attention grabbing without thought (or care) for consequences.. the police window campaign, the campaign they had where customers were invited to leave a lipstick kiss mark on the t-shirts worn by staff (who are often young girls without the confidence to say no to their boss) and the binder campaign. They try and portray being so 'right-on' but get it so so wrong. Anything to get a bit of media.
