Holiday makeup - help me stop my face from melting

Pear21 · 13/07/2022 08:36

We are going on holiday soon, it’s 36 degrees there at the minute. What kind of make up should I wear? I normally wear Bobbi Brown foundation and their stick eyeshadow but I think it’s going to slide off in the heat. Any tips please? Which brands/products? Thanks

I've cut right back to a Stila lip and cheek stick, mascara, eyeliner and eyebrow pencil. Anything else I've ever taken never gets used so that's my limited make up. Foundation or even tinted moisturiser just feels wrong to me in the heat

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/07/2022 08:44

Doublewear foundation doesn't shift.

Hoppinggreen · 13/07/2022 08:45

Would you feel comfortable not wearing any?
or maybe just a tinted moisturiser and mascara or have your lashes tinted before you go?

TheBikiniExpert · 13/07/2022 08:46

I live in a hot country. I never wear foundation in the summer. I would say just wear sun screen and a bit of mascara if you like!

Silverfinch · 13/07/2022 08:48

Heavy makeup looks ridiculous in the sun.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 13/07/2022 08:49

I wouldn't bother with foundation. You could try DW as suggested, but what's the point?

Concealer, if you must and some bronzer should be enough. NARS eyeliners and very heat resistant, don't know about BB sticks.

StrawberryPot · 13/07/2022 08:50

If you have to wear something, maybe a tinted moisturiser with sun protection?

clairethewitch70 · 13/07/2022 08:53

I wear primer and it keeps my make up intact. No7 airbrush

backatschool · 13/07/2022 08:59

I live in a hot sweaty country. Primer, concealer, mascara, bronzer, lipstick. Most days just bronzer and sunscreen.

Whitney168 · 13/07/2022 09:02

You're on holiday, wear a bit of waterproof mascara and have done with it. Why on earth would anyone even attempt to wear hefty foundation in that heat?

violetbunny · 13/07/2022 11:29

That will melt off in the heat and feel quite heavy. I would go with:

  • sunscreen (Ultra Violette from SpaceNK do some excellent lightweight non greasy ones for face)
  • tinted moisturiser, or something like the Chanel Water Fresh Tint (Rose Inc also do a similar product)
  • a face powder to keep t zone shine at bay, ideally something ultra lightweight and not too flat like the Nars light reflecting setting powder
  • tinted lip balm - Lanolips and Burt's Bees do some decent cheap ones
  • A tubing mascara (so it won't come off if you sweat)
  • a cream bronzer - the new Charlotte Tilbury one is very nice
Pear21 · 13/07/2022 14:21

Thanks all. Last year I tried no make up but just ended up looking a sweaty shiny mess

I'm going to fake tan my face, have brows and lashes tinted beforehand. Maybe a little concealer & blusher for evenings...

vestedinterests · 13/07/2022 15:17

@N0tfinished what fake tan do you use on your face? Do you also do your neck and chest to blend everything in?

N0tfinished · 13/07/2022 15:20

@vestedinterests - I've just bought a Bondi Sands version that you mix into your moisturizer - it's a small white bottle. I've had a Clarins similar version before. Yea, I blend down my neck x

PerditaNitt · 13/07/2022 15:26

Use a shot of setting spray - it won’t last as well as it does in colder weather, but you might get another 2-3 hours out of your make up.

PerditaNitt · 13/07/2022 15:27

Also don’t just stick to the pre-holiday mani, pedi and wax. Get a good quality facial as well - you may find you’ll be happier to forego the foundation for at least the first few days

EveParker22 · 13/07/2022 15:30

Have you thought about a tinted SPF? I use the La-Roche Posay one and it works a treat! I never have to wear foundation and it gives good coverage.

SmurfysLaw · 13/07/2022 15:30

During the day tinted sunscreen and top up with powder sunscreen if you look shiny. At night dabs of concealer where you need it.

Alarae · 13/07/2022 15:34

If you want a 'full' look then I can recommend Doublewear- I wore it in the current temps and it didn't budge. Didn't stop me sweating through it though!

Otherwise I have just pared back to eyeliner, mascara and an eyebrow pencil.

Rina66 · 13/07/2022 15:38

Huda make up is very good and a lot of it is waterproof/resistant, lip pencils, blush sticks and concealers.

gogohmm · 13/07/2022 15:39

Tinted moisturiser (or just clear) mascara and eye palate, lipstick/colour plus balm. Saves space too

vestedinterests · 13/07/2022 15:49

@N0tfinished thanks!
