Do all fake tanners have that terrible smell?

So far my answer is yes. I’ve tried about six different varieties and the smell is so disgusting I just can’t deal with it. Are there any at all that are odourless?

I use the cocoa butter one and it doesn't have 'that' smell. It's great

fake tan

Lallybroch · 12/07/2022 22:00

I hate the smell of fake tan, but find the Tropic one isn't too bad.

WeeM · 12/07/2022 22:01

I’ve found even the ones that say they don’t, do! I’ve been using the Skinny Tan gradual lotion which smells of lovely coconut when you put it on but when that wears off there is a def hint of fake tan smell!

Tigofigo · 12/07/2022 22:01

I thought m&s gradual tanner was ok - the cocoa butter one smells like cocoa butter masking something to me.

Chardonnay73 · 12/07/2022 22:02

Following as yes, they all ultimately stink!

RampantIvy · 12/07/2022 22:45

I find the Dove one doesn't have that biscuity smell.

Im using This www.boots.com/bondi-sands-pure-gradual-tanning-milk-200ml-10291387. No smell. I use it every other day or so.

PressPauseontheMenopause · 13/07/2022 07:04

I agree with PP - Tropic ones hardly smell at all x

I second that. Have both tanning lotion and tanning drops for face and I must say they smell nice, especially drops.

I use the utan ultra mousse and it smells quite nice. Mine is cherry if I remember right (not used it in a while lol)

toastfiend · 13/07/2022 12:08

The Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning Milk smells quite strongly of cocoa butter but doesn't have that biscuit-y fake tan smell at all. I like the smell and find it works well if you're not looking for a really deep tan.

liveforsummer · 13/07/2022 12:12

Yes I've tried all the ones that people say don't smell or that claim on the packaging not to. Yes the smell is masked by heavy scents but that ears odd and leaves the fake fan whiff. Best option is to apply before bed and shower on getting up then change sheets

WeAreTheHeroes · 13/07/2022 12:16

Skinny Tan coconut water mist is great. Light coconut scent and no guide colour so you don't end up with the bedding or your clothes stained.

OhMerde · 13/07/2022 12:16

I've never found one that doesn't smell but have recently bought a really cheap express one and it's the least bad I've ever used. It's St Moriz fast tan mist. It also dries really fast and isn't sticky.

BrandNewBicep · 13/07/2022 12:54

I'm using the Bondi Sands Gradual Tan. It smells of cocoa butter, but not too strongly and doesn't have the biscuit smell. It does take a few applications to build up colour though.

Crikeyalmighty · 13/07/2022 13:02

I like the bondi one too- quite subtle tan and doesn't smell biscuity

PeachesVonBeach · 13/07/2022 18:34

I’ve always liked the Dove ones for this reason too. Has anyone used the face version of the Dove fake tans?

DurhamDurham · 13/07/2022 18:38

I bought the Dove one after it was recommended on Mumsnet and hated the smell. Maybe it's just me Grin
