What to take for a one week beach holiday?

Going somewhere hot with two kids. Always end up taking too much.

So I'm thinking;

2 bikinis
1 swimsuit
2-3 day/beach dresses
3 midi dresses for evening
1 midi skirt and a nice top for evening
1 shorter dress for evening
A pair of shorts and a vest top
Beach flip flops
Nice sandals
Bras and pants

Is there anything I'm missing? Shall I take spare shorts and T-shirts?

I usually end up bringing home half of my case unworn which annoys me and then can never decide what to wear.

A hat
Plenty of suncream

If I only took that, you could guarantee the kids would get so much crap on me every day so I couldn't reuse anything

Hi OP

Have you considered wearing some of your
"Night " outfits from beginning of the week ad day outfits for the second?

vestedinterests · 13/07/2022 06:12

I am also going for a week and always find I don't have enough with me. This year I am taking:

2 swimsuits
2 beach cover ups
3 pairs of shorts
2 or 3 midi dresses
2 or 3 vest tops
3 t shirts
1 short sleeve cotton blouse
2 pairs of Birkenstocks one brown and one silver
1 pair of havaianas to wear just around the pool
2 bucket hats
Mini brown cross body bag

vestedinterests · 13/07/2022 06:14

Oh and 2 sets of pj's

kateandme · 13/07/2022 06:25

I fret and pack the world and don't use half of it.so I clearly holiday very different to everyone on here.
Are the kids getting messy with their mess stage/age?
Washing facilities?
Are you outing.or out outing holidaying or just chilling in a villa, going for croissants then a few strolls holidaying.

Twilightstarbright · 13/07/2022 06:31

I’m packing later for a one week holiday. Preschooler liable to get sticky hands on me a lot. Heading to the west coast of France so can be varied. I’m thinking:

5 dresses
1x shorts (all I have)
2x sleeveless tops
1x jeans
2x cardigans
2x swimwear
gym clothes

metallic flat sandals
trainers
havianas
gym trainers

Worldgonecrazy · 13/07/2022 06:35

Wow, that’s a lot. For a week I would take 5 bikinis, two vests, two shorts, two dresses, beach flip flops and one pair of sandals. Depending on U.K. weather I would probably wear longer trousers and long sleeved top on the plane. I always wear my hat on the plane too, so it doesn’t get squashed.

Worldgonecrazy · 13/07/2022 06:38

Should also add that OH is the opposite. He would take three trunks, seven T-shirts, four shorts, two linen jackets for evenings, three or four shirts, two lightweight long trousers, flip flops, two pairs deck shoes and one pair formal shoes. We usually buy extra baggage allowance for him.

Aksbdt · 13/07/2022 06:43

that sounds about right; I always end up taking loads and not wearing half of it so this year I’m limiting to the same as you. I’m also taking a little bottle of travel hand washing liquid so if I need to hand wash something then I can.
i always take loads of shoes then never wear them all so I’m doing same as you and some trainers to travel in

OneFrenchEgg · 13/07/2022 08:45

For a week this year by the beach I'm taking

2 bikinis
Cardigan for evenings/cool days
3 strapless dresses
Shorts x 2
Five tops

I'm not taking any evening dresses as I never 'dress up' at home if we go out, just a smarter variety of day so am not taking anything different.

Arrivederla · 13/07/2022 09:12

Op - you seem to have a lot of evening stuff and not much for daytime. I would lose one of the evening outfits and add another pair of shorts/casual skirt and a couple of t-shirts.

kateandme · 13/07/2022 15:44

Judging by the weather updates I'd take spare day casual stuff as u might not get away with not having a change if uve been out for the day in this heat!
And I'd be taking as loose floaty cool things as possible.smock dresses.baggy t's and shirts.
Remember a water canister too!

Rina66 · 13/07/2022 19:02

Will you be in a hotel and going down for breakfast? I always take 2 pull on crease resistant dresses for this.

Maybe an overshirt or kimono?

Think you'll need 2 pairs of shorts and 3 tops/vests/t shirts - I normally like a pair of crop trousers too just in case I want to
cover my legs.
