Shorts for the shorts resistant

I don’t like shorts but occasionally really need some.
I think I need not too short and kind of wide leg/floppy fabric. Pattern is fine. I’m 5’8” and a size 14. Tummy is my issue right now, everything else is kind of ok.

Anyone know what might be good?

I haven't worn shorts for years but bought a couple of nice loose fitting ones from White Stuff for a holiday earlier this year...

Why do you need to wear them?

Last summer I bought some sport short/skirts - I had got some leggings with skirts attacked for playing tennis and thought ‘this is genius!. I found shorter legged versions - so with cycle shorts under easy a knee length skirt (pockets on skirt, pocket on leg of shorts for your phone - and one in the other side for tennis balls, not that I carry them around much!)

Very comfortable and loads of pockets!

I’m finding I could do with them on a hot day on a bike!
Sometimes a skirt is just too smart. I normally live in jeans and joggers.

You say, your tummy is the issue - wear a longer top with a shorter summer jacket.

Shorts - you don't want to wear them, don't wear them. Feel free to wear what you feel comfortable in and you will feel more confident.
Suggestions -linen cropped trousers, looks good with trainers (especially white). Wear lightweight 3/4 length trousers - incredibly comfortable, light and great for warm weather. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BRWLTQLL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1&psc=1

Have a look at Free People Hotshot harem shorts. Not to everyone’s tastes but if you like joggers you may well like these too.

Hoppinggreen · 11/04/2023 11:06

Uniqlo

waltzingparrot · 12/04/2023 20:35

La Redoute are great for shorts. So many different styles.

SheWoreYellow · 12/04/2023 22:30

That’s funny, my thread has been resurrected!

I really like the Uniqlo ones, but they’re just a bit short.
Don’t like cropped trousers at all, sorry. And I won’t wear a longer top, as that’s just going to make me look older than I am (everything has gone very short, hasn’t it), I just need some shorts that are vaguely flattering on the stomach.
I will have a look at La Redoute. Slightly wondering if I’m looking for something that doesn’t actually exist.
