Do people wear wetsuits at center parcs?

Or would I look like an idiot?

Not going until the start of October, so obviously the weather will be cooler… but I know the subtropical paradise is warm! It’s been a few years since I last went and I can’t remember if I saw any wetsuits.

It would be a short one if that helps!

Didn't see any at Longleat in March (but if it makes you happy who cares?!)

Mythril · 12/07/2022 16:02

I didn't see anyone in wetsuits, no.

Ha, thank you! I don’t actually own one, I’m just thinking of drastic measures if I’m unable to lose weight 😂

No wetsuits, but plenty of people in t-shirts and swim shorts if you'd rather be covered.

IvorCutler · 12/07/2022 16:04

Obviously I won’t be wearing if no one else does, I’ll stick out like a sore thumb.

Thanks @valentinoandme that sounds perfect.

Never seen anyone in a wetsuit OP, I think you would be too hot and uncomfortable and more noticeable. I am sure no one will be looking at you, but yes there are other options rather than a swimsuit, that a pp suggested. Enjoy your holiday OP.

Silverswirl · 12/07/2022 16:32

No wet suits! It’s absolutely boiling in there. I was so hot in the changing rooms I thought I might pass out at one point.
once wet in the water it was fine but it’s was very very warm I found.
We went in April.

Twizbe · 12/07/2022 16:40

You'll see all sorts of body shapes and sizes by the pool. A wet suit would be more obvious than a well fitting swimsuit

OutDamnedSpot · 12/07/2022 16:43

No wetsuits. It’s boiling in there!

SheWoreYellow · 12/07/2022 17:53

What about board shorts for a bit of extra coverage?
We’re in one now and there were two ladies in full arm and legs coverage today, but obviously for religious reasons. Apart from that there were a couple in shorts and a couple of swim skirts. But also lots of people of all shapes who were in swimsuits or bikinis. I think if you can grit your teeth and pretend to be ok with it then you’ll get into it ok.

Hellocatshome · 12/07/2022 17:56

Please don't wear a wetsuit in the subtropical swimming paradise. Its called subtropical for a reason. If you would be more comfortable board shorts and a t shirt or rash vest are fine but to be honest people dressed differently always attracts more attention than peoples various body shapes etc.

I wear swim leggings over a costume and no bad things happen! Wear what makes you feel comfortable.

DockOTheBay · 12/07/2022 18:03

Indoors? I think you would be very warm. I was too hot in there just wearing a swimming costume! (In the water was fine but on the poolside its boiling)

Aspidistra1 · 12/07/2022 18:03

I think you’ll be warm OP. And there will be all
sorts of different body types there.

Seeing a lot more modest swimwear being worn recently than ever before though so very much anything goes.

Seen quite a lot of this type of thing lately:

Long sleeved costume

FAQs · 12/07/2022 18:04

Swim leggings are great!

OhWifey · 12/07/2022 18:09

When we were last at CP I absolutely loved the people watching of women of all shapes and sizes, wearing swimsuits of all kinds. I just kept feeling a little bit in awe of women in general, and what those women's bodies have achieved through motherhood.
We went during the week in the school hols and on the changeover day on Friday there was a noticeable difference; with lots of much younger, child free women arriving. I remember thinking to myself how I thought all the stretch marks and wobbles were much more beautiful!
(Hope this post doesn't sound creepy - am a woman myself)

SunshineAndFizz · 12/07/2022 18:09

Defo no to wetsuits in the pool, you'd be so so hot (and I've never seen anyone else wear them).

Agree with others - there are all shapes and sizes at the pool, and lots wearing t-shirts/shorts to cover up - that would look better.

HolyCarp · 12/07/2022 18:10

There were people of all shapes & sizes wearing all sorts of costumes but no wetsuits, when we were at Longleat Center Parcs last month. I'm size 18 and wore a costume with a bit of a skirt attached. Yiu know the sort of thing. You'll overheat in a wetsuit.

Tootiredtosleeptonight · 12/07/2022 18:11

Absolutely not this would be bizarre

myuterusistryingtokillme · 12/07/2022 18:23

Wetsuits are really unflattering on pretty much everyone and you'll stand out so people are more likely to look at you. Plus you will be very hot!

IvorCutler · 12/07/2022 18:25

Ok, ok! I’m not going to wear a wetsuit 😂 I agree I will melt. And look like a melt.

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll do whatever I can to get into better shape and wear shorts if I’m not happy.

I’ve just bought these from Amazon. Hopefully they’ll be too big by the time we go away, but in the meantime I’d like to take the kids swimming. I’ve not been brave enough yet this year.
