Minimiser bras - any decent ones out there?

I have 38G boobs and although they don't look too out of proportion on my 5'10" frame sometimes they just get in the way!

I haven't explored minimiser bras since the 90s, and recall them weirdly squishing everything into my armpits which was neither comfortable nor flattering. I've just had a quick browse online but haven't found anything that looks sturdy enough.

I'm not worried about them being lacy/ 'sexy'/ pretty just supportive while flattening. I've got a Panache sports bra which kind of fits the bill but gives me a curiously Miss Mary of Sweden pointy nipple effect.

Any suggestions please?

M&S do some great ones.

Bunty55 · 12/07/2022 11:43

I would be interested to know this also because M&S do not do great ones at all. Far from it, they are of poor quality.

McConkeysPlate i haven't had a huge amount of luck with M&S 'normal' bras and their sizing but I will pop in tomorrow and have a look.

(Also, great username - I had a PE teacher called Mr McConkey many years ago!)

Bunty55 Yes, this has been my experience sadly; I'd come to the conclusion that my boobs are just not the right shape for M&S bras, and tend to stick to Panache and Curvy Kate as a rule.

Interested to see this. I’m a JJ cup and it can be burdensome, so I do get it, but just cannot imagine minimiser bras being comfortable! Usually I’m desperate to get out of my normal bra by evening, even though it fits properly.

CremeDeSudo · 12/07/2022 15:45

I'm wearing one from M&S right now. I've got 3 from there, this is my favourite one and I'm in danger of wearing it out! I think you might need to order a few online and try them on. Some fit better than others!

I only wear Fantasie. Their pretty, lacy side support bras give 'projection' for the Miss Mary crowd. The plainer, 'everyday' ones such as Fusion and Illusion give a more natural shape which doesn't stick out so far.

I love both types, it's great to have the choice depending on what I'm wearing.

MorrisZapp Thanks, I've had Fantasie in the past and liked them, will check them out.

I absolutely love my M&S minimiser bras. It's just a question of getting the right size. They are no more uncomfortable than any bra.

Won't touch their knickers with a bargepole now sadly, they are made of the flimsiest fabric going and last about 5 minutes. Day to day undies come from Tui, Sloggis when I'm feeling flush.

I have found sports bras to be better than minimiser bras. They give support.
