Are Birkenstocks TOO casual for office?

Dress code is smart casual with more emphasis on the casual. I’ve seen leather dress-type sandals worn without an eye bring blinked. I’m thinking of pairing my Arizona’s with a flowy midi-skirt and upper arm covering T-shirt. Pedicured toes and my feet are not disgusting/covered in hard skin etc.
.
i wouldn’t wear flip flops but birkies are more stylish IMO…

what’s the verdict…would you do it?

People (including me) wear them all the time in my office. What is the dress code like normally where you work?

Guardian12 · 10/07/2022 12:47

Oh sorry you said it was smart casual. I wouldn’t think it would be an issue in that case.

honkeytonkwoman38 · 10/07/2022 12:48

I wore mine last week. I get too hot otherwise.

karmakameleon · 10/07/2022 12:52

I wear mine but people are wearing trainers in the office these days so not as smart as it used to be. I do keep shoes in the office though so if I needed something a bit smarter for a meeting I do have something I can change into.

I used to wear mine to the office all the time (before WFH). Have seen lots of others do as well.

OldYork · 10/07/2022 13:34

Ok this is encouraging! There are lots of smart trainers kicking about the office. I’ve just never seen Birkies…I have a feeling once everyone is wondering the same…it’s just gonna take one of us to break them out 😁

I would say it is fine.

dudsville · 10/07/2022 13:36

I think this is a great take on smart/casual. Leather ones in good condition worn with a dress or skirt - fab!

Purplecatshopaholic · 10/07/2022 13:37

Depends on the dress code but would be fine in my office

Lndnmummy · 10/07/2022 13:39

Wouldn't be ok in my office

Mercurial123 · 10/07/2022 14:21

I walk to work in Mayaris and then change into the Madrid big buckle.

tiredanddangerous · 10/07/2022 14:24

I would have thought they're fine for smart casual. My workplace is still very behind the times and insists on business dress so I wouldn't get away with them.

woolwinder · 10/07/2022 14:25

My boss said sandals of any kind are OK provided they are 'posh looking'.
