Have you bought many summer clothes this year?

I love clothes and fashion but I have hardly bought any clothes this year.

I bought one stripy skirt from Joules, one green vest top from Next to go with it, blue chino style trousers, a white t-shirt from Mint Velvet and a stripy top from LoveandRoses. I haven’t worn the skirt or vest top yet so I am probably going to return them.

I ordered lots online which didn’t fit/didn’t suit me so have returned. I wanted some chunky black sandals but didn’t find quite the right pair so I’ll leave them now. I have dug out other summer clothes and I am trying to wear things I forget to wear. Some things come out year after year! The summer is so short I can’t see me buying anything else.

What have you bought this year?

I usually love summer clothes shopping but haven't bought anything this year for a few reasons.

  • Disposable income is much lower this year with two young kids, increased mortgage and general cost of living.
  • I feel like every single thing I've ordered (and subsequently returned) is made of nasty cheap synthetic material. Where has all the cotton stuff gone!?
  • Like you I've actually been cleaning my wardrobe out and realising just how many clothes I already owned and never wear. I've either started wearing those or have donated to charity.

I feel like i've bought a lot, but actually I sent most of it back! I did keep a couple of dresses from Gudrun Sjoden, and a long dark patterned shirt ( sale) . I bought a black denim jacket at the beginning of spring, and 2 tshirts from Primark, oh and another dress! Also replacement leggings in a few lengths, and some pants. Also trainers in spring and a pair of Birkenstocks. That's quite a lot really, and I'm still looking at sales sites! I also bought a couple of cardigans in the sales for Autumn/winter.
But I do keep my clothes a long time, and use short leggings as underwear. I'm currently wearing a dress that is about 10 years old and flipflops from 3 years ago.

i rarely buy clothes however we are going abroad for the first time in over 15 years so will be buying summer clothes. In the process of getting fitter and toning up so don’t want to buy anything too early.

will be summer shopping very soon .

There are a lot of sales on so it’s a good time for summer holiday shopping 😊

I bought a couple of dresses in January at bargain prices, a pair of linen ballon trousers from M&S and am now trying to decide if I really need the bikini I ordered for my holiday or if I can make do with what I have already. Linen blazer from anthropologie has been an extravagance but hopefully I’ll wear it for years to come.
