I look so much better in the summer!

Yes, I know not everyone does, before you all start shouting that you're too hot and want to wear boots. Smile

But I do! My skin, which is a pale griege for most of the year, goes a lovely gold in spite of my factor 50. This makes my eyes look bright blue instead of dull grey (are you getting the whole picture here? I basically look like a dementor for most of the year). My muddy brown hair get golden highlights, and I can wear the loose fitting, lightweight, slightly hippy clothes that I feel best in, instead of wrapping myself in lots of woolly layers (I feel the cold badly). I can free my feet in pretty sandals instead of heavy, clumpy shoes. If I can't be arsed with make up - and I increasingly can't - I just stick on a big pair of sunglasses and no-ones any the wiser.

I feel so much more relaxed and me in the summer. I was really born in the wrong climate.

Oh I love dressing for summer too! Have you ever had your colours analysed? I’m a soft summer, so there’s plenty of clothes in the shops at this time of year that suit me. Come winter and it’s all blacks and really dark colours that make me look pale and wan. Is there also a correlation between the months of the year that you enjoy dressing for the most and availability of colours that make you feel your best I wonder?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/07/2022 17:39

Yes!! I look best in white, jade green, sky blue and coral. Much harder to find in winter!

I used to be like this in the summer but now I’m an autumn babe. I can’t sunbathe anymore and my hair goes a slightly brassy tone as opposed to blond highlights. I still really suit bright colours particularly electric blue and turquoise but I’ve lost my summer magic.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/07/2022 17:46

You could wear tan drops and tinted moisturiser all year…

MintJulia · 09/07/2022 17:53

I'm the same. Love it.

I never seem to be able to find winter clothes that suit me. They are either too thin/cold or too drab/scruffy.

Linen shorts, cotton top and sandals are my natural attire. Shame I was born in the U.K. 😀

I've tried - just leaves me looking like I need a good wash.

Me too! I self loathe all winter but at this time of year I think "actually I look good!". Just so fresh and bright, lovely hair and feel much slimmer too.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/07/2022 18:57

I think you might have tried a shite brand.

In Sept I would go to Laura Mercier and get the illuminating primer, and the tinted moisturiser that they recommend for you, and you will glow all winter.

People constantly say I have great skin. I don’t, I have clear skin and without this I look ill

Also, fill in your brows and a bit of blusher on where the sun would hit your face

Wouldloveanother · 09/07/2022 19:10

I’m the opposite, my skin glows white in summer and stubbornly refuses to tan. The heat makes my hair dry and frizzy at the ends but I have a sweaty scalp and greasy roots 🤢 I have an oily t zone so make up just slides off. Clothes are a nightmare as we seem to get so much summer rain now. Just no to the whole thing!

I think I'm a winter, but I still feel more attractive and find out easier to dress in summer!

TheOGCCL · 09/07/2022 20:57

This is me too! Love summer shoes, they suit me much better than chunky boots. My feet are one of the few features I actually like. Sandals can be dressed up and down really easily. I've got narrow long feet but with sandals I can size down for the width and not worry about squashed toes.

Somehow wearing fake tan looks less fake and my home bleach highlights look better. I feel like the light is softer and my fine lines look better. As you say can hide crows feet behind sunglasses. Less make up needed. I actually have really greasy skin but at this time of year it feels ok to be a bit shiny.

Getting dressed is easier and quicker, fewer layers and less washing. Packing (light) is easier for warm weather. Everything feels more relaxed and insouciant. I think I need less sleep too.

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/07/2022 00:32

I think i'm the opposite. I quite like being pale and wouldn't sit in the sun enough that I'd be exposing my whole body to it (and especially my face) so I usually end up with quite tanned legs, feet, arms and hands and pale everything else ( fake tan does not work fo rme) and I hate the disparity of it, I'd rather just be pale all over. I do slap on the factor 50 but like you OP, still get a tan.

Clothes wise summer isn't for me, I don't mind it but never feel like me until it's autumn again and the coats, boots and tights are out. I think I probably objectively look fine in the summer but never feel particularly attractive.

OnenessWithAllStrife · 10/07/2022 00:41

I bet you are what would be called a 'kibbe' natural. At home in summer, at your best.
I am oddly the same in both, quite pale even in sun, but find plus points from both winter and summer. I love the slightly surf look, blonde waves and a soft hoodie, or a floaty drapey dress! But I also come alive with winter gear, and my beloved docs and chelsea boots.

It's a very individual thing, so no one is right or wrong.
If it means anything i also suit both silver and gold jewellery. So i presume I am neutral in many ways. Maybe you are more at the summer, natural end?

OnenessWithAllStrife · 10/07/2022 00:43

Also, there is nothing 'ill' about being pale. Just like there is nothing to measure in being black. All skin tones are perfect as they are.

Chattycathydoll · 10/07/2022 00:45

Me too! I have some skin issues that are at their worst in the winter. The cold air & central heating dries my skin out, makes it chapped and then it overcompensates by overproducing oil so I get spots as well. I look like a dull, blotchy, flaky mess and hate it. In the summer, everything clears up (assisted by the vitamin d from all the skin exposed to the sun) and for a few months my complexion is great. I also have circulation issues so the cold makes me miserable. Wish I lived like this year round!

Jessieharriet181 · 10/07/2022 00:54

I'm the opposite. I love winter clothes. It takes me ages to decide what to wear in summer - haven't shaved my legs, I need to be cool enough but without being too revealing, or its still cold in the shade so need to take a jacket everywhere anyway, get sweat patches and it's hard to find sandals that are comfy yet go with dresses. In winter I can wear boots with jeans and a jumper, sorted.

JaceLancs · 10/07/2022 01:33

Despite being fat and nearly 60 I’m loving summer
Enjoying extra vitamin D and rocking a few lovely linen dresses

D0lphine · 10/07/2022 01:35

I love dressing for summer too because it's very simple. A dress, sandals, Jewellery and a bag. Job done.

No layers making you look like the size of Brazil.

You know, I've done sooooo many Kibbe tests online and I've never been able to pin down my type! I'm almost all Dramatic for Bone Structure but then the rest of my answers are all over the place.

I do think I'm a neutral too though, as I also suit both gold and silver.

I’m just the same OP, a light tan really elevates my face and makes my skin and features work together. I can also find lots of flattering things to wear in the summer but have always struggled with winter wear and never feel I look my best.

liveforsummer · 10/07/2022 10:29

I've always been the same although I did something about it and spent 10 years abroad in a hot country. Now at 42 the sun damage is lessening the benefits of the summer glow 😆.

LaMadrilena · 10/07/2022 11:00

I'm happy for you OP! I'm the opposite, I look so much better covered up, haha! I have an ok figure but my skin is so pale it's translucent and I have very visible veins (some varicose, others not) so I love winter when I can wear short skirts with tights! To make matters worse, I live in Spain and am permanently surrounded by golden-skinned beauties 😭

PinkArt · 10/07/2022 14:29

I'm jealous. I look like a sweaty boiled ham all summer!

DSGR · 11/07/2022 11:09

Another summer-lover here. Love the clothes, the cotton, the pretty sandals. Just feel more me and less frumpy
