What colour mother of the bride outfit?

I'm a bit rubbish with fashion stuff so asking for some help please! My dd is getting married in spring next year. The bridesmaids dresses are a burnt orange colour and dd's dress is cream. I can't think of a complementary or toning colour that I would like that will go with the colour scheme. I'm looking for something that's A line/flared. Any ideas anyone?

What colours suit you...start there...my mum wore a black and white trouser suit not in colour scheme but very her

In that case I would go with a peachy/salmon-y colour outfit!

IncompleteSenten · 07/07/2022 21:50

A nice pale yellow?

LetMeInYourWindow · 07/07/2022 21:50

Google burnt orange and cream wedding and see what pictures come up for colour ideas?
Green seems to be a popular contrast colour that people pick, is that an option? Dark Gold or burgundy are also popular colours on some pics and look nice. Finding an actual dress in a dark gold in the style you want and in budget may be a different matter!

I know these are room decor ideas, but will give you some colour ideas. Teal would look really good.

I wouldn't worry about being tonal but try not to clash in a bad way.Blue is your classic contrast for orange, but I also think maybe green and (non-pinky) purple.

Can you get a swatch of the bridesmaid fabric or at least a picture to help you?

carefullycourageous · 07/07/2022 21:55

Oh yes, teal.

whatth · 07/07/2022 21:56

Thanks everyone. All those ideas are really good. I do love green so that's a start. Also peachy or the right yellow would be good too. I don't want anything too classic mother of the bride. Any good websites to look at?

@carefullycourageous thank you. I did think about navy but worried it would be too dark.

Lots of nice colours here and flared rather than straight

they have patterns too

carefullycourageous · 07/07/2022 22:04

Do you want a dress or a two-piece?

I think dark colours in shiny fabric look much less dark than their matt counterparts.

I have no idea where to suggest though as I am a random shopper and often secondhand.

Ivory 😉

whatth · 07/07/2022 22:09

I wouldn't mind a two piece. I would probably need some kind of jacket too.

How about a pattern that has some yellow/orange in it? I'm not a great fan of florals, but there are some really nice ones. For daughter's fall wedding I wore a dark red with black floral pattern, and a bolero type jacket.

here's a very pretty dress...

Gilmorehill · 07/07/2022 23:03

I think blue would be great with the other colours but concentrate on finding something that will make you feel great.

BlueStarfish · 08/07/2022 13:54

Find clothes that fit you and make you feel like a rock star, the colour will follow!
