What shoes with this dress?

Big event coming up and I've bought the dress pictured. But what shoes to wear with it?
I want to be able to dance all night, so comfort is paramount.
Also - what bag?

Prepared to spend a bit of money for the right things, as I got a bargain on the dress.

I was wondering if I could get away with trainers or a clumpy sandal rather than heels... but not sure if that would just look ridiculous.

It's quite 90s so I think you could get away with a clumpy sandal. Check out Esska sandals. They're supposedly comfy.

I think so. I’d do black trainers and black bag with silver bits

I guess it depends on the type of event and dress code but yep trainers could work. At least you'd be more likely to wear them again. What style of trainers do you usually go for?

I have lots of trainers, but usually for running in!! 😆 trail shoes, road shoes, race shoes...
But my non-running trainers are classic white Stan Smiths, and some chunkier Nikes.
Not sure my existing trainers would work. Maybe some black ones, as @GoldPig suggests? Not sure if I should go chunky or streamlined though
