London- where to go shopping?

I’m in London and I’ve got a few hours to go shopping tomorrow before train home. Where’s good to head to?! I’d like to look for trainers and a wedding guest outfit. Any ideas? Thanks!

I like High Street Kensington (also the name of the tube stop) as it has a good choice of shops but feels manageable. It also has a great food hall for when you need refreshing.

Yodaisawally · 01/07/2022 15:12

Can you get to Westfield?

hatchyu · 01/07/2022 15:15

Budget? I like Liberty

MunsteadWood · 01/07/2022 15:16

High St Ken is a good option, I also like Covent Garden for shopping

MunsteadWood · 01/07/2022 15:16

(Not that I've been for years!!)

Oxford Street is exhausting as it's so enormous.

Westfacing · 01/07/2022 15:19

Bear in mind tomorrow is the London Pride march, forecast to be the biggest ever so steer clear of the route as there'll be road closures and huge crowds. And pubic transport will be packed.

I was caught out one year when taking my granddaughter to see Matilda, we just made it as the curtain went up!

TaraRhu · 01/07/2022 15:24

Where will you be? Where's your train? Coal drops yard is good if you are going to kings cross

windmill26 · 01/07/2022 18:22

Kings Road

Thank you for the suggestions and tips everyone. I’m by the O2 and leaving from Paddington. There seem to be outlets in the O2…

If you're at O2 you're close to Canary Wharf where there is a shopping centre which IME is deserted at the weekend. You're also close to Westfield Stratford. Or you could go to Bond Street on the Jubilee Line on your way back to Paddington. I tend to stick to the streets behind Oxford Street because I hate crowds but you could focus on a few big shops like Selfridges. Off/behind Oxford Street you've got St Christopher's Place and South Moulton Street which are both pedestrianised and have some lovely shops. Fenwick is good too and less overwhelming than Selfridges.

Marking my place as I'll be in the same situation on Sun so thinking of shopping to kill a few hours.

OrangeSamphire · 02/07/2022 07:58

Given it’s Pride and you’ve only got a short amount of time, head to Westfield Stratford.

Floisme · 02/07/2022 08:56

I'm not a Londoner and I don't know the Pride route but I like the mix of shopping around Spitalfields / Brick Lane. You've got the independent and second hand / vintage shops, two under-cover markets: a big second hand one in a former brewery and the hipsterised Spitalfields Market. But there are also maintstream stores like Uniqlo, Cos, & Other Stories, Whistles, Anthropologie and others I've forgotten. But nothing too big. It's close to Liverpool St Station so should be well connected, transport wise.

Thank you for the suggestions! These will keep me going for a few London trips! 😄
