I've been having foil highlights for a while, roots are showing and I've got a do tomorrow night. I bought nice and easy blonde dye, but my hairs gone a gingery colour. What's the best thing to put on it to get it back to blonde

Head and shoulders should tone it down.. Wash and repeat and repeat!!

My hairdresser told me you can only go blonde with bleach. Otherwise I have no clue sorry. Hope you manage to fix it!!

SmileyPiuPiu · 28/06/2022 19:07

Go to the hairdressers

SmileyPiuPiu · 28/06/2022 19:08

Oh it's tomorrow sorry. Um..dye it dark?

IvanaTinkle2 · 28/06/2022 19:09

If your hair is in good condition you could do a bleach wash at home and osmo silver shampoo is so good! If your hair is damaged I wouldn't recommend.

Head & shoulders will only tone down darker colours. You can try a purple shampoo, that might cancel out some of the orange. Wash your hair with a normal shampoo and roughly dry it. Then put the purple shampoo on it (as if you were colouring it). Depending on which brand you get, don't leave it on too long or it might be quite ashy... Good luck!
Oh, and if the ends are really blonde then I wouldn't put it on them.

That’s not going to help here - the OP’s natural brown will have been lightened by the peroxide in the blonde dye.

I’d buy a light brown dye and just do the roots with that. I had a similar issue last week. Used a dark blonde dye to do my roots, which dyes the greys blonde, but lightens my natural black hair to ginger. I went over it with a light brown and it looks much better.

Or embrace the gingery colour and dye it a gingery colour?

Memyselfandfood · 28/06/2022 19:36

Foils are with bleach.
nice and easy is a dye so is unable to lift your hair to the levels needed.
purple shampoo will neutralise yellow, ( it’s opposite on the colour chart)if its ginger then it wont do much as it needs bleach to break through the pigments.
i’d see a hairdresser to sort this.

Memyselfandfood · 28/06/2022 19:37

Head and shoulders will do nothing for this.

Wobblysausage · 28/06/2022 19:41

Maybe try some of that blonde root touch up spray until you can get it sorted by a hairdresser? It washes out but it might disguise the ginger for one night. Otherwise I’d just leave it before you make it worse.

I'd put a cool ash dark blonde home colour on it and this will deposit pigment and all being well dye it light brown. The ash should tone the orange.

Littlebirdyouaresosweet · 29/06/2022 14:46

Maybe embrace it and get a union jack dress?
Say you are still in Platty Joobs mode!!

BenchOfCompany · 29/06/2022 15:00

You need a toner, bleach removes colour from your hair, if your hair starts off brown then in one session it will usually get lifted to an orangey tone. You need a toner to counteract the brassy tones and deposit colour.

This is probably a decent explanation of what you need to do.

LadyEloise1 · 29/06/2022 15:36

I'd go to a good hairdressers to try and sort it.
