OMG how did I not know about pedicure wraps?

My feet are a mess. I'm a runner, I only have about 5.5 toenails altogether and some of them have fungal infections or other signs of damage.

I've tried everything, including private podiatry, but ultimately I'm not going to stop doing the crazy mileage so it's not going to change.

I haven't worn sandals in years, a decade or more.

I bought these wraps. £3 so I thought they were worth a try, a bit of fun. I didn't expect them to work well because I'll be sticking them to manky nails and in some cases to toe, not nail.

Anyway, I did them yesterday afternoon, I've been about my business, had a shower and I still have pretty feet for the first time in soooo long. Admittedly you can't look too closely because the skin's not great either, but I can work on that, but the change in the overall look is amazing.

I don't suppose they'll last like a proper pedicure, but they'll certainly do the job for a night out or a day at the beach 🙂

More info required. What are these wraps exactly?

Stumpedasatree · 28/06/2022 09:26

What is your weekly mileage btw? Also a runner but toenails currently all present! Usually only lose them from doing lots of descents when wearing slightly small shoes.

What do you mean by pedicure wraps? Do you mean things like Footner? AFAIK they don’t do anything for nails but they work brilliantly on dry skin. Just be aware feet look fabulous for a couple of days afterwards, then start to look increasingly rotten until after about a week your entire foot falls off. I once got out the bath about a week after doing a Footner and stepped out of my own foot, leaving a perfect shoe of skin. It was gloriously disgusting.

I do about 40 miles. I know not all runners suffer and people will say my shoes are wrong but I've had them checked by numerous experts who are happy with them.

I think it originated from a fungal infection, which has been treated, but the nails have never grown back the same and tend to flake off. I don't have black nails.

No they're nail polish "stickers"

I'm worried about Footner. I only have patches of dry/hard skin. What will it do to the good bits?

Oh, nail wraps! Sorry misunderstood.

Footner don’t do anything bad to the good skin, it just removes the dead skin (unless you get impatient and start peeling it off yourself, then you can end up with a few sore, red bits).

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 28/06/2022 12:14

Glad you've had this discovery, OP. No fun having to avoid sandals in the summer. Display those feet with pride!

Footner is more of a gimmick than anything I think. It's fun to see your foot peel off but overall I think you get better results with a chiropody sponge and a good foot cream.

If you don’t mind me asking - how does a nail sticker work if you’ve got no nail to stick it on to ?

I've just stuck them onto the nail bed and painted cleat top coat over the top. I don't know how long they'll last but they're still there so far.

Working feet is amazing for dry skin, puts loads on overnight

RudsyFarmer · 28/06/2022 21:12
