How to look good in photos and videos

I sing in an amateur choir and I love everything about it, including the performances. However, whenever I see photos or videos of myself singing, I always feel disappointed in how I look. Grey windswept hair, washed out face... Any tips please?

I always think that to look good in formal photos you need to look extremely tidy, so the beachy waves and flowing dress which look great in real life, always end up making me look like I live in a ditch in photos. Take the approach newsreaders take. Style your hair and then pin and spray it into shape so it stays neat, and then wear plenty of makeup, especially a bright lip. Think of it as being on stage.

A red lip.

Do you wear glasses? If so make sure they contrast against your grey hair and complexion.

Tidy up your hair to enhance whatever style it’s shaped to.

What are your eyebrows like? You don't mention them. Some definition would help - not slugs, of course.

Thanks ladies, I think you are all onto something here. We have another event coming up so I think I will treat myself to a blow dry and ask for hairspray which I don't usually. Also some bright lipstick! I don't wear glasses on stage but maybe need to add some mascara or get eyelashes dyed for some contrast? My eyebrows are okay actually!

I had to do a teaching video that would go onto You tube .. was advised to wear more make up than is normal .. so I did

The result was actually quite flattering and didn't seem like loads of make up

I don't wear make up at all so even a little bit looks like too much to me!
